I think this game changed controlls. I remember it was worse and more jerky, and I installed it recently and was surprised. Character surely controlls better. Anyway I don't like graphics and gameplay much. Edit: yeah it's still a frustrating garbadge. The main part of frustration comes from this game's slow pacing (even old good mario is faster paced game) and precise mechanics of jumping. Because of this I end up locking myself from reaching platforms several times because I throught some object on the highter platform. Or you could just throught away enemy which important to proceed to the next puzzle. This game should be called Curse of the Thousand Softlocks DX.

Imitating the FC games of the last century, this price can be obtained. If you can calm down and play, it is quite interesting. Raise the enemy and find various ways to pass, but the jump button is not very sensitive
Controls are ♥♥♥♥ and the gameplay is worse
This game isn't terrible or anything. It's definitely playable, and if you really like retro platformers you might want to give this one a try even for full price (it's dirt cheap). Now, to me the gameplay is kind of stiff, the level design isn't anything special, the graphics and music are ok but... kind of uninspired. This whole game is just meh to me, although I'll probably finish it someday. If you are interested in a MUCH better retro-inspired game, with much better graphics, music, controls, gameplay, everything... then check out Skeleton Boomerang, which is a hidden gem for sure: https://store.steampowered.com/app/658150/Skeleton_Boomerang/
A fun retro platforming combining elements from Wonder Boy and Super Mario Bros 2. The controls are a bit finicky at times, but it's also short enough that it never outstays its welcome
This is a short platformer game, in which you select to play as the princess or the future prince, to save your country of the curse of the bad magician. The controls are really nice and consists mainly in jumping and picking enemies. The game saves in each room you arrive. This a good point, since some of the rooms are really challenging. The boss battles are really good and makes good use of its simple mechanics. The story is nice and fits well with the experience. The level design is very good and even though the gameplay is simple, it always adds new elements to the challenge.
