Reviews
Not a big fan of roguelikes or roguelites, but this one is decent. Check out the demo before buying.
It is good at a discount. Enough systems to keep you engaged but not overwhelming and nail-biting like FTL.... As others state, it definitelly needs more content (boons, banes, weapons, encounters, stories, you name it). I mean, you have the framework devs, just add stuff ! even in large paid DLC.
豪玩
- Way too expensive for what it is
Si vous aimé le genre space-opéra, vous devez essayé ce jeu. L'ambiance et l'histoire à eux seuls vous feront l'adorer. Le système des évenements est vraiment sympathique, et le système de combat est agréable.
Great game you can play however you like, has a nice story progression and some lore to it, recommend.
It gud, work gud on steam deck
incredibly immersive gameplay for a 2GB game, between world-building, game mechanics and most of all PLOT, this tiny little game can drag you away from wherever you are and bring you into the empire. the mechanics are many, varied and original, it's extremly strategic and requires long-term planning as well as last minute decisions (to fix mistakes created by your previos ♥♥♥♥♥♥ deciosions). the plot is just breathtaking, worth reading every line
Crying Suns is a FTL game with a great narrative. The games setting can best be described as a DUNE-Like Setting similar like it is build up in the books by Frank Herbert while taking inspiration from other games and literature as well. At its score its a resource managing game with real-time-strategy fighting in space and skill-checks performed by agents in your retinoue. You have to manouver clusters of stars while keeping pace of your resouces to fight sector-bosses at the end of each area. Quick rating if you wish for a short "Yes" or "No" recommedation: YES, 9/10, great game, get it.
Crying Suns – A Brilliant Pixel-Art Roguelite with Heart and Depth Crying Suns is a compelling sci-fi roguelite that masterfully combines strategic gameplay with an emotional, mystery-filled story. It may look simple at first, but it quickly reveals surprising depth. The mechanics and rules are excellent. The game features tight, thoughtful real-time tactics with pause functionality, fleet management, and meaningful choices during each run. Everything feels fair and well-designed, making combat and exploration satisfying. Like many great roguelites, it requires multiple runs to finally reach the end. True mastery, however, only comes after many more attempts as you learn enemy patterns, unlock new captains, ships, and powerful synergies. What elevates the game is its engaging story. The narrative is surprisingly deep and emotional for the genre, filled with intrigue, loss, and big revelations. It pulls you forward run after run, wanting to uncover the truth behind the universe. Visually, the pixel art is a mixed bag — it can feel simplistic in some areas, but there are also stunning moments of true pixelated mastery. Certain backgrounds, animations, and cinematic scenes look absolutely beautiful and full of atmosphere. Overall, Crying Suns is a standout indie roguelite that excels where it matters most. If you enjoy strategic gameplay, strong storytelling, and games that reward persistence across many runs, this one is highly recommended. Well worth playing.
