After a fifteen minute tutorial that taught me nothing that I could not have just read in 20 seconds (attack, shoot, dodge), the game had the gall to demand I "break every box in the room" to proceed. I'm trying to leave less negative reviews for games that probably just aren't for me, so I'm gonna give this a thumbs up while putting a warning in the actual body of the review: if you do not like having your time wasted on unengaging gameplay, I quickly got the feeling that this game was about to be ludicrously bloated, and unfortunately had to give it up. I simply do not have the attention span for the pacing this game showed early on, especially for a game that was demonstrating nothing new mechanically from the outset. If you feel that you're happy to sink the time investment into this, however, I imagine you're the type of gamer that'll probably enjoy it.

It's great. The puzzles got a little tedious for me but that's more of a skill issue than a fault of the game.

absolute cinema
CrossCode is so good! The puzzles and platforming are clever but never too clever. Combat is interesting. Leveling up is swift, natural, and never required grinding to make it through the story. And then there's the story and characters: my favorite part. The narrative is compelling. There are some twists and then the twists have twists. A reveal upon a reveal. Some saved until the very end too. The characters are lovable, well rounded, and go through their own development as the story events progress. The party banter is so amusing. Take 2 of your companions, add them to your party, and watch the banter unfold. CrossCode is now part of my all-time favorites.

Very fun, only issue I had was that any non x-input controller wouldnt work on my PC.
CrossCode is such a gem of an RPG that I will recommend at any chance. The story is wonderful, as are the characters and setting. The combat is amazingly fluid and provides a fun challenge throughout the entirety of the game's duration. I enjoyed wracking my brain over the dungeon puzzles and beating the bosses at their summits. To all Seekers walking the track, good luck and stay vigilant.
