A retro-inspired 2D Action RPG set in the distant future. CrossCode combines 16-bit SNES-style graphics with butter-smooth physics, a fast-paced combat system, and engaging puzzle mechanics, served with a gripping sci-fi story.

best indie game
I came into this game thinking it was going to be a ok pixel RPG, Just something to pass some time on nothing serious and oh boy was i wrong. the characters are loveable and so expressive, Lea the mc can only speak a few words but she has so much personality in her actions and expressions, the rest of the cast especially Emilie are amazing as well i loved the way they interacted with lea and how she interacted with them given her limited vocabulary. the gameplay itself is super solid and the game is really challenging i struggled on quite a few boss's and it was super rewarding to beat them. the element system is cool having to switch depending on what resistances and weakness's the opponents had, the puzzles were really challenging and fun as well some insanely hard ones near the end of the game. the DLC was really good as well a must play to see the story to its ultimate conclusion and some really fun and tough fights and puzzle's. overall its a really fun and emotional game that i will be thinking about for a long while and that i will look back on fondly, I would highly recommend playing it i wish i could forget all about it so i could play it agian.

as someone who also has speaking troubles, the protagonist hits close to home for me, i wont spoil the story but man i painfully love it also the gameplay is so cool with combat i love as much as hollow knight and puzzles that make you feel like a genius for solving that crazy of a puzzle i don't want to make a 14 paragraph long review, otherwise people wont read it but trust me i could make a review that long on how much i love this game, because i did and then realized it was too long also i had this game on a old different account, i have a lot more hours on this game then what it says how long i played
Not for me I suppose. Most of the game is fine, but it's trying too hard to be a platformer when it isn't supposed to be one. The 2D aspect of the game does not serves those jumping sequences well, be it because of confusing depth perception or very tight jumps (not mentioning ice). Combat was nice, game is charming and certainly has a lot of potential. Alas, I got filtered out by the numerous ice activities inside of and following the first dungeon. I have no problems with orb-based puzzles and such, but I really wished the game was more focused on what it does quite well: the fighting.
This is the Final Fantasy that I actually enjoy playing. Exploration and movement is fun, good balance of puzzles and combat, the latter of which is fast and fun! Gorgeous art style and music and I'm really enjoying the story so far
The game is great there is a lot to it. I have played almost 90 hrs now and have yet to beat the dlc, A New Home. The ricochet shooting mechanic is pretty awesome and adds a lot to the game. The puzzles and boss fights are where the game shines. If you like ricochet shooting puzzles, this game is for you. Farming and buying new equipment was even fun for me, as well as doing any of the side quests. All the areas have pretty unique and good vibes. The only downfall of the game is the plot. You find out halfway through the main story that you are not who you think you are, for the worse. The plot is hard to get into after that. It was kind of a let down. However, regular gameplay is fun enough to keep going. Also, the final boss battle of the main story is my favorite part.
I had a blast with this game. Might be one of the best game I played. I was surprised by the amount of content this game has. The puzzle are fun without being too difficult. Same for combat.
it's so peak
I want to echo the same sentiment as a lot of the other comments. I adore this game, i love the story, the characters, you can tell how much love the devs put into this game. But my god I am going to start ripping my eyelashes out one by one if i have to do one more 2 hour long dungeon and Im only on the second one in the game. The combat feels snappy and fun, the pixel graphics are gorgeous, and i love the difficulty customization the game features. You can individually set if you want the puzzle timers to be longer or shorter, apart from the enemy damage/combat difficulty, so you can make the puzzles easier without making the combat too easy. That said, like man I just dont have the patience for it atm. I absolutely recommend everyone tries this game, but if you lack patience you might not be able to finish it. If I end up with only two hours to play before bed I dont wanna spend an hour of it minimum stuck in a dungeon doing finicky shooting puzzles, and it really starts to drag on. I've spent multiple days on one dungeon lol. Hoping Alabaster Dawn doesnt suffer the same issue bc I bought them together as a recommendation. My only noteworthy complaint is that the game interacts weird with my PC's inherent HDR. I had to go into Nvidia settings and tamper with it for awhile before I could get HDR to work with it correctly bc the game was so overexposed and bright. Gorgeous when I got it to work though! Even if I don't end up finishing it right now I still think it was worth the price and I'm happy I bought it.
amazing!!!@#!#!!! best game i played in a while
