I've been waiting for 20 years for another entry into this franchise. I'm happy to say Capcom killed it. Absolutely worth the wait. This series got me through Hurricane Katrina as a kid, now it's time to get me though lower back pain in my 30s. It's good to be back!

This is not Dark Souls. Yes, it has Soulslike-adjacent combat, but it's definitely not a soulslike. It's a bit like Tyrant's Realm, which is also a roguelite with soulsy combat, but TR is closer to the true DS1 feeling. This thing here is completely different. I totally get the negative reviews, when you buy this game and expect a soulslike but coop focused. I can't say anything to the latency issues some people seem to have while playing coop, I play this thing solo. I don't like people. And to me this game feels like if you put a 3rd person action spin on Diablo 3. There is looting, dungeon crawling and the possibility to raise the difficulty to get better stuff. It's NOT Diablo in the sense of mowing through thousands of enemies like a superhuman, more like when D3 launched and was still a bit hard, not the casual grindfest it is today. I'd say if you're into campy Nephilim stories and mutated vampire priests, can pull of a shield parry in DS1 and also are in for bite sized dungeon crawls that take like 20-30 minutes, this one is well worth the price of admission. I didn't have any performance issues, I can play on the highest settings at 1440p and never dip below 60fps.

I barely got to play the game, I enjoyed the combat, the combat was great But immediately ran into nothing but bugs, Fought the first boss, the Camera glitches out and pans crazily if the boss to close to the character died to the boss trying to parry and couldnt see if I could even beat the boss cause I got into a scripted death, got into the city could not interact with ANYBODY, had to restart the game, still couldn't interact with the dude to start mission on map, restarted the game a 2nd time after verifying files, STILL COULDN'T INTERACT with the dude, DELETED my save REDID the whole prologue STILL CAMERA ISSUES WITH BOSS FIGHT SO I DIED AGAIN, Was able to finally talk to the main quest and interact with the map, But that frustrated me so hard that it turned me away from the game. Mortal Shell II came out the same week essentially, And had 17 updates with QoL updates that made the game better honestly just play mortal shell, Though not having co-op will suck, BUT I RATHER HAVE A WORKING GAME than this mess
