CreatorCrate is an action platformer with roguelite elements. You take control of a sentient 3D printer trying to escape a huge spinning space station. You have the ability to make copies of anything. You can copy guns and knives to overcome enemies, but more unconventional items can also be used, such as tables and chairs. Your robot arm allows you to swing from lamps, hit switches, turn values, and carry anything in the game environment. It’s a unique mechanic that makes for some interesting and creative gameplay The game’s level design needs special mention. CreatorCrate features a huge circular world, with interconnected areas. The world continuously reshuffles, so if you die, you’ll have to navigate a different path on your next run. Luckily there’s an excellent check point system, meaning death will never set you back too far – and you always feel like you are making progress with each area bringing new items, enemies and mechanics to learn. CreatorCrate has some wonderful physics-based gameplay. Absorbing matter and copying items is such fun. It’s a game that never takes itself too seriously and can be approached in a multitude of different ways, depending on the player. It’s available now on the PC via Steam.
So.... When i started playing this game i sucked at It..i kept stopping and taking damage, i was never able to progresso fluently trough the game and i was very frustrated at It. So......why am i recommending It? Well the answer Is because THERE IS a way you can play this game and for It to be veeeeery rewarding...you Just Need a bunch of practice. Creatorcrate Is a very different game in reguards to progression....you do not have any timer or things like that but the game clearly rewards fast calculated play....zipping around trough corridors and using furniture to rotate on enemies Is being done for the purpose of letting you overcome the "slowness of your own gameplay" so you can play the game the way the developers ment you to play. This to me Is why some of the reviews are very negative.....because the First playtrough of the game,if you do not sink a bunch of hours on It Is Always gonna leave you bitter. The learning curve of this game Is not to "win" but instead to play the way you are gonna enjoy the game. I found this trough the roguelike tag. ..and for me this Is One of the reasons.this game was so Little picked up...It does not feel like a RL despite having a lot of elements of It...at least not a traditional one or the Ones It borrows from the most like Selunky and Noita. But It Is a good game.....a very good One even if you put the effort to become good at It.....and It Is hearthbreaking to see so Little interest in it
This game really makes you FEEL like an agile matter-flinging robot that's got beef with humanity.
Few games today dare to put players in the role of villains. A great example of this is Phobia Game Studio and Devolver Digital's "reverse horror" indie adventure game Carrion from 2020, in which we played as an amorphous monster with tentacles, and the goal was to eat as many people as possible to evolve and escape from a research facility run by humans. And while Carrion is a reversal of body horror movies like Carpenter’s The Thing, CreatorCrate is deliberately even more silly and doesn’t take itself seriously. It’s a daring indie game made by a single person, who worked on it for seven years (her first major game after many smaller game projects). It takes place in a futuristic setting, featuring simplistic graphics and some crazy innovative ideas based around controlling a cute robot using a keyboard, with an emphasis on his robot arm which you control using a mouse in circular 360 motion. It will probably fall under the radar for many, but if you think Spelunky is a 21st century masterpiece, you must try this game. It's a humorous, chaotic and an extremely physics-heavy roguelike platformer that puts players in the role of a home appliance/robot that becomes aware that scientists have artificially created it on a space station. The game boasts unique ideas and novelty mechanics used to "devour" objects, people and weapons from the environment that you can then "print" as a 3D printer and use to attack and traverse the levels, constantly on the run from humans and security robots on a huge procedurally generated space station full of traps. Just like Spelunky, you can play CreatorCrate practically forever, because the level layout changes every time you die. But even though it’s colorful and silly, the game is quite hard. Because of that, it will possibly fend off most of those players looking for a more accessible and easier piece of entertainment. The difficulty will still be appealing to those looking for a challenge based on skill. But even if you consider that the game is hard on purpose, the biggest problem of CreatorCrate are its awkward controls that are impossible to get used to completely, which is a tough sell for a platformer with an emphasis on precision. Think of it as a weird roguelike mix of Carrion, but with controls more similar to "Getting Over it with Bennet Foddy", and there you have it. All in all, CreatorCrate has lots of stuff going for it: a layer of fun, a pinch of weird and silly, a handful of frustration and you’re looking at a yet another indie game with a cult status on the horizon. Props to the developer Jori Ryan for sticking with this project for so many years.
Weirdly compelling in a way it has no right to be.
Bad game because when I click on new game it shows downloading the game and it keeps downloading and I can't play
a very creative, original, puzzley, physicsy, roguelite platformer. with lots of action and high speed. and a lot of emergent gameplay. i'm not aware of anything else out there that's anything like it. if you care about any of those things, you should definitely play this game!
Игра которой банально не хватило бюджета и времени разработки. Крутая задумка с переработкой окружения, интересные механики, но реализация мусорная, как и внешний вид всего. Печально. https://youtu.be/VjROwnDFXCY
