If you want a submarine game that's actually fun, and not some laborious task of crew management, coupled with finding the right trajectory path for your torpedoes by doing tedious mathematics, then this is the game. I bought (Uboat) and returned it, because it was just a pain in the ass to try and figure out how to play; for me, anyway. Game is a lot of fun, and a lot more rewarding than the prequel, Crash Dive. The reason for that, is because you're able to upgrade your submarine before the start of each mission, with money earned buy sinking ships during your previous missions; the more tonnage you sink, the more money you earn. Yeah, the graphics aren't anything to write home about, but I'd rather have a fun game, than a pretty one that I won't / can't play. That being said, the graphics arent bad, just not really good, either. Very enjoyable game, especially for 12 bucks.
A great submarine simulation for people (like me) who appreciate something more complex than an arcade torpedo fest, more approachable than sub sims that come with a 300 page manual, and less of a headache than 25 year old sims that require finagling before they'll finally run at 1024x768 full screen. No, Crash Dive 2 won't let you walk around in your own sub, it won't make you calculate firing solutions on your own, and it won't make you patrol for long hours to find some action, but your crew members still have discrete skills, it lets you choose just how many "sim" elements you want to play with, and it'll still pay to understand how WW2-era submarine warfare actually works. Recommended.

More variety than your average subsim, has excellent replay value. Easily my favorite game on Steam.
If you love the thrill to chase enemies with a submarine, you won't be disappointed and surely never get bored. IMHO this game is well balanced and you may start right away without the need to go to university first. The tutorials are great and give you easily an understanding how to operate all what is needed. Once you are familiar with the basics you may already start your first Patrol/Convoy/Campaign on 'easy'. Soon you may want more and or want to get challenged, then no problem: Just play on a higher difficulty level and find out if you can master even the highest level ("Sim").....especially a 'Campaign' which will keep you busy for quite a while. This game is surely no real 'Simulator', but it's by far more than Arcade => it's something in the middle and it's really depending how much you want to get challenged. So, it's perfectly designed to be Captain of a submarine for just a few minutes..... or you can spend plenty of hours, searching convoys and get them all down below the water line :-). But be aware, that the enemy has not only Destroyer but also a heavily supporting air force. So, try to attack a convoy on a higher level during daylight and you soon will find out what I mean.....or simply wait until it's dark outside and the planes will be in their shelter. I like the gameplay as such and you will have all you need, as most of the time you will check the map to see where it might be worth to get. If you are looking for an high-end-visual-fireworks, CD2 may not suit you, as it's strengths are surely around gameplay, smart AI of the enemies and all perfectly balanced. I could not figure out any bugs...... and if so the dev will correct it really quick.... or provides updates if one has a good recommendation. Defintely worth full price.....
I first started playing Crash Dive 1 on my iPad. Once I got my PC going and got onto Steam, I was surprised to find out about the 2nd version. I got it, and have enjoyed it very much. It's a solid and very fun submarine game for Word War II. It has fairly good realism in my opinion. It has good controls, and once you figure it out, you'll have a good time.
It's subtastic!
Most fun I've had since Silent Service. I typically like games where I don't have to do a ton of micromanagement, and this is the perfect fit. Outside of crew management, you're pretty much just in the action. You have fast travel, speed options all the way up to 32x, and if there's something you want to tinker, you can modify a thousand things to your liking. For example, I enjoy playing sim difficulty, but I ease up on the time it takes to aim a torpedo, and amount of damage crew members can take. I can't recommend this enough if you enjoy submarine games that are simple yet detailed to the point where you're not micromanaging a thousand things that take you away from action. Can't wait to see if there's a Crash Dive 3 with even better visuals!
Good lite sim. If you are a Silent Hunter veteran you will find it's "too" easy. But, at the same time, if you would like to play some SH4 but it's been years since the last time and you are a bit overwhelmed on the thought on re-learning it... this is a good substitute, or a way to get the rust off before going back to a more hardcore experience.
Well, after imploding so many times at the bottom of the ocean, I'm really starting to enjoy this game. The lack of visuals of the inside of my sub helps me focus on what really important. Running and hiding. It's easy to see what repairs need to come first too. Send men to sickbay or crew quarters for healing. Get the helm up and repaired and get those torps ready to fire. What......a bomber has dropped bombs on me, quick hard to port.....no hard to starboard. No, the engines are out. Dive Dive Dive. Sonar is out, crap. Ok I'll just sit on the ocean floor for awhile and suffer till they have gone. 20 minutes later some repairs have been made and I try to crawl away unseen. Take out enemy bases, sink convoys or rescue a downed pilot. All can end with imploding at the bottom of the sea. While there are no underwater graphics, you don't really have time to look at your destroyed sub. Most of the time your're scrambling just to stay alive and make repairs. If you like the simpler sub games, before walking around your sub was a must, or watching it move thought the water, this one fits the bill. Fast action, relentless enemies and death at th bottom of the sea. Great game and lots of Dev interaction. I bought it on sale but even full price is worth it.
I'm usually too dumb and impatient to play submarine games. I never got into the classic titles. Maybe I'm getting into this title because I'm older now, or more likely because this is well written, but Crash Dive 2 is engaging, easy to learn, and gives you a nice bit of tension. I like the rpg elements - crew management and submarine upgrade features too, it's a nice touch to see something where you're managing and developing crew but in a strategy game, where you're not doing all their work for them. Worth full price.
