Urban Tale

I'm not really sure if Urban Tale is an asset flip. Some elements of this game certainly make it seem like the developer put some effort into assembling some kind of original here. On the other hand, a lot of the game assets don't seem like they were created by the developer, but they haven't credited any asset creators for supplying assets, which might be a case of plagiarism. There's no evidence, so we need to give the benefit of the doubt... regardless, asset flip or not, the quality here is indistinguishable from many asset flip/cash grab scams, and that's a problem in itself. This is a somewhat deep looking (but isn't really) urban RPG where you wander around some Russian pixel town and get a job and do other "slice of life" stuff in an urban dystopia. It's fairly poorly made with garbage graphics, and I suspect there's a possibility of a lot of asset flipping, as the sheer number of Russian fake/paid reviews on this tell us quite clearly the "developer" has no interest in ethics... fake reviews mean only one thing... this is a shovelware scam. This game has been translated from some other language into English... badly. If this was done through Google Translate, Google Translate should feel ashamed of itself. Regardless, the language in this game is broken and will put off a lot of gamers. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. While there are options to change the resolution for the game, all this does is scale up the simplistic 2D art assets used to make the game, which makes little or no difference to the graphics quality. Without any other substantial graphics tweaks, it's not possible for gamers to improve the lacklustre 2D visuals. The game assets are fairly mediocre/low quality, in some places they appear mismatched... Ultimately the quality of these assets, and thus the overall visual quality is lower than average, and low quality always makes for a less than optimal gaming experience. Remember, we're looking for the best of the best of 100,000+ games on Steam. This looks a lot like it was designed for consoles, but released on Steam instead by mistake. While this is on PC, it has all the hallmarks and deficiencies of a console game, from the clunkier than needed control scheme to the less than cutting edge graphics. There's 10's of thousands of PC games on Steam, and PC gamers deserve only the best. This might not appeal to many gamers due to the lack of PC-centric design. It's unclear why this never made it to the video game console appliances it seems to have been designed for. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. Urban Tale didn't appeal much to the people who own a copy of the game, either. It has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game didn't really capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is "First Job", getting a job (something the developer should have done instead of this pixelcrap), trivial to get, but less than 35 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. Hardly a success story, even the people who own this game weren't interested in it. Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a modest spike in player counts for the game. But this only happened once, around the same time that trading cards were applied to the game... so this is just card idlers getting their cards and moving on. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards. Urban Tale has the total ripoff price of $12 USD, for which you could easily get any number of older AAA games. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend.

as others have stated, I was pretty much soft locked out. This note is for the Dev's. Why a thumbs down and what happened: I started, got a newspaper and set up a job interview at the bar. After talking to the interviewer (lady next to bar under dart board) I was trapped to the left of her. I had no way to move up, down, left, or right. Totally trapped. Decided to start a new save since I'd only been in game for 5 minutes. Set up another interview at same bar. Went to talk to interviewer again but now, she wont even interview me. Just asks if i'd like to buy a drink. Started yet anther game, new character. Same results. Interviewer wont talk about interview stuff. Just asks to buy a drink. I guess I could have tried again but this time, to work in the flower shop, but being trapped and then game thinking I had already interviewed, on a brand new save, was a bit too messed up for my taste. Especially when reading all the other stories of glitches elsewhere in game. I wanted to like this game. In fact, if it worked, I know, I would have loved it. Dev's keep fixing it! Your game is great and when it's done I will buy it again!

Nice little Slovenian game. I had a friend from Slovenia for years so this was a plus straight away. Nice soft colours and some complex themes, I do like putting the stock market right next to the casino and the recycling. It is not a fast game, which is also helpful. It is a slow grower. Pleasant and with just enough potential edge to make it less cosy, which is a plus. I probably wouldnt want to play it without the potential for mayhem.

The amount of bugs and poor game design is just ridiculous. Even if you figure things out and are able to enjoy it for a few hours, there's always something else. Now, my game simply doesn't save my progress even when it shows a new saved time-stamp in-game and it also consistently crashes within an hour, taking me back to my progress (money, care, career, and relationship progress reversed) from the same point in the game I have now gotten past four times. It's just the same thing over and over - play through some glitches, try to enjoy it, save multiple times, game crashes, erases all my progress. I couldn't get a refund despite not having the game for up to a full day and despite not being able to continue playing due to the saving issue.

This game has a lot of potential, but it's just not playable where it's at now.

Urban Tale is a great choice for fans of mystery and suspense. The atmosphere is fantastic, and the story is engaging. The puzzles are challenging but fair. Definitely worth a try if you're looking for a good story-driven adventure
