CPU Invaders – Cyber Arcade, developed and published by Microblast Games, is a compact indie arcade shooter that experiments with how games can interact with the player’s desktop environment. Instead of confining the gameplay to a traditional fullscreen window, the game overlays itself on top of the user’s desktop, allowing players to continue using their computer while waves of digital enemies invade the screen. This unusual design gives the game a playful meta-concept: your computer itself becomes the battlefield. Emails, browser windows, and desktop icons remain visible as the action unfolds around them, turning ordinary multitasking into an unexpected arcade challenge. The premise behind CPU Invaders – Cyber Arcade is simple but imaginative. The player must defend their computer from swarms of “digital parasites” that appear across the screen as if the system is under attack. These enemies spawn in different patterns and attempt to overwhelm the player, requiring quick reactions to eliminate them before they multiply. The game essentially transforms the user’s desktop into an interactive shooting gallery where threats emerge while the player continues browsing, watching videos, or working on other tasks. This design creates a unique dynamic rarely seen in modern games, blurring the line between software utility and entertainment. Gameplay draws clear inspiration from classic arcade shooters from the early days of gaming. The mechanics emphasize quick reflexes, precision aiming, and score-chasing rather than deep strategic systems. Players control a small on-screen weapon or cursor capable of firing in multiple directions, eliminating waves of enemies that move in predictable but increasingly difficult patterns. As time passes, the intensity of the invasion grows, introducing faster enemies and more chaotic attack patterns. The simplicity of the controls allows the game to remain accessible while still offering a satisfying challenge as the difficulty gradually ramps up. One of the more appealing aspects of CPU Invaders – Cyber Arcade is the variety of small arcade modes it offers. Instead of relying on a single gameplay loop, the game includes several retro-style minigames inspired by classic arcade formulas. Each mode introduces slight variations in enemy behavior, objectives, or scoring mechanics, which helps keep the experience fresh. Some challenges emphasize survival and endurance, while others encourage players to chase high scores through efficient enemy elimination. These variations reflect the design philosophy of old arcade cabinets, where replayability came from mastering simple mechanics and improving performance with each attempt. The desktop overlay feature remains the defining characteristic of the game. The interface can be repositioned anywhere on the screen, allowing players to control how intrusive or subtle the gameplay feels while they use their computer. Because the game runs as a transparent overlay, players can keep watching videos, reading articles, or chatting with friends while defending their screen from invading enemies. This multitasking approach makes the game ideal for short bursts of entertainment during downtime. Rather than demanding full attention like most action games, it becomes something that can coexist with everyday computer activity. Visually, the game adopts a minimalist cyber-arcade style that emphasizes bright colors and digital effects rather than detailed graphics. Enemies appear as simple geometric shapes or stylized glitches that fit the theme of a computer system under attack. Explosions and particle effects are intentionally flashy but lightweight so they remain visible without completely obscuring the desktop beneath them. This design ensures the game remains readable while still delivering the energetic aesthetic expected from an arcade shooter. The soundtrack complements the visual design with electronic music that reinforces the cyber-themed atmosphere. Despite its clever concept, CPU Invaders – Cyber Arcade is clearly designed as a lightweight experience rather than a full-scale action game. The gameplay loop focuses primarily on score-based challenges and survival, meaning there are no deep progression systems, story campaigns, or complex upgrade mechanics. Once players have experienced the available minigames and enemy types, the sense of novelty may gradually fade. However, the game’s short session length helps offset this limitation, making it well suited for quick play sessions rather than extended gaming marathons. Another limitation is that the novelty of the desktop overlay mechanic is the game’s main attraction. While it is an innovative idea, the core gameplay itself remains fairly traditional and simple. Players looking for complex mechanics or long-term depth may find the experience somewhat limited. However, those who appreciate retro-style arcade design will likely enjoy the straightforward challenge and the creative way the game integrates with the operating system. In many ways, CPU Invaders – Cyber Arcade succeeds by embracing its identity as a quirky experimental project. It does not attempt to compete with large action titles or elaborate indie shooters. Instead, it focuses on delivering a quick, playful distraction that captures the spirit of classic arcade gaming while introducing a modern twist through its desktop-based gameplay. The combination of retro mechanics, cyber-themed visuals, and multitasking-friendly design gives the game a distinctive personality within the indie arcade space. Overall, CPU Invaders – Cyber Arcade is a clever and entertaining experiment that reimagines the traditional arcade shooter by turning the player’s desktop into the battlefield. Its accessible controls, fast-paced gameplay, and unusual overlay system make it a fun novelty that works well for short bursts of action during everyday computer use. Although it lacks the depth and longevity of larger arcade titles, its creativity and retro charm make it a memorable indie release for players who enjoy quick, score-driven gameplay experiences. Rating Score: 7/10

Cool little cyber arcade game. Shooting through enemy waves and chasing high scores is pretty addictive.
The cyber style looks great and the gameplay is clean and simple. A nice pick for arcade fans.
A neon dream. The color palette is vibrant without being distracting, and the UI is incredibly clean. It’s as much a visual experience as it is a game.

For the price, you really can’t complain. It’s cheap, it works and it’s genuinely fun. You get exactly what you pay for and maybe a little bit more.
A fun little arcade collection that literally turns your desktop into the battlefield. Enemies crawl over your windows icons and apps while you play classic arcade-style games in an overlay. It’s simple chaotic and surprisingly entertaining especially when you’re multitasking and blasting digital bugs at the same time.
Pros: Responsive controls, great art style, solid progression. Cons: Can be visually overwhelming for some. Overall: A very solid 8/10.
Pretty fun arcade shooter with a cool cyber theme. Easy to get into and satisfying to clear waves of enemies.
