It's a good start, but still requires improvement but it's early access so expected. The dev communicates very well though, that's a good thing. The game is fun, especially the parachute mechanic, but does slowly become a bore over time. After a few minutes of trying to build something, you realize the UI is pretty un-intuitive and is cumbersome. The textures aren't consistent, sometimes they look crisp, other times the same textures look blurry. The trees do this weird thing where the leaves will move along with your HMD. There's also the whole getting stuck underwater issue, requiring a new game. Once goals and a few kinks get worked out, the game will be great.
Country of One is a nice game with a good concept, but I am unable to recommend it in its current state. It is early access, so this could change in the future. While it was kinda neat exploring the island you are put on and attempting to build, it is very difficult. The game doesn't look bad, but it doesn't look great, and the controls are a bit difficult to use such as being able to use the right menu button to pull up the menu (even though it still goes at the position of your left hand) but not being able to close it with your right hand. It is also difficult to delete parts you don't need and not delete parts you do need. Also, at one point a huge rock wall got stuck to my controller and wouldn't let me drop it. I like that the dev added snapping to assist you in building, but sometimes it will not snap (I had three foundations all snapped perfectly together, and the fourth wouldnt snap in) and sometimes after things begin to be uneven, it will actually snap it into the wrong spot making it to where it would be better to just freehand it even though in VR the sensitivity is very high. I look forward to see where this game goes as this is a good start, but it's going to be quite a while before I can recommend it.
Great creative game, like adult minecraft. Devs seem very responsive, all in all, very promising!
This game is not finished yet, but it has some potential. If you have a good enough imagination (which I don't) you can have really fun building weird stuff in this game and then blowing it up with your overpowered shotgun. I did a video on this game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1-qITOK9l0 Cool concept, needs polish but the developer seems eager. When this game gets coop and better survival mechanics, it will be good!
Very cool, creative only though, as the auth stated, save doesn't work right, back to the game
This is a prime example of why Early Access should be left to developers that can and will provide a well developed and finished product. This is nothing more than a simple and buggy tech demo. It displays nothing more than a simple concept wrapped in a shoddy attempt at something that kind of works. I appreciate the indie scene, but this shouldn't be on the store. If you have a good idea, flesh it out and produce something that is worth money, then sell it. If you don't have something that's worth money, then pitch the idea and spread this alpha around to gain interest. DO NOT make something that is this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and ask people to pay for it.
New edit, made a video explaining issues: https://youtu.be/NnGXBU8IAwM Edit: 20/11/2017 I am getting quite concerned, the dev stated the survival update would be out Summer time, yet there has been nothing. Worse still the dev is not responding to comments in the forum. If you see this dev you really need to at least comment to your players on what is happening! Right now it is looking abandoned, if you are still working on it say something. I still say no, more so due to lack of dev response, give us an update and my opinion can still change. Previous comment: So I had a little play with this and here are some thoughts I have. The Island generation is interesting, however right now the Islands are small, all hills and not particularly eye catching, they are just random and not really inspiring. I had an Island which had a stream going down hill which was nice, however when getting to the top I found it was coming from the ground literally, that really did not make sense or look right. I saw on one things that looked like pumpkins? But could not interact, same with all over foliage. Building: A few things here that bugged me, a serious lack of options of construction blocks did not get me excited to do anything with them, my first thought was "is that it?" Building was very frustrating, due to the previous mentioned uneven land, I could not make a flat foundation to build on. The snapping was pretty much useless, I got snap points but the items either intersected, snapped with gaps or snapped completely uneven. I just found the building incredibly frustrating so just smashed it up and had a look at some items. The shotgun is incredibly over powered and hugely dissapointing in that you do not actually feel your holding it at all, no cocking it, reloading or anything. It is basically useless at this time other than to destroy what crummy base you may have tried to build. No idea what to think where the axe is concerned, not satisfaction with using it at all. Controls: The targeting is off, I have to angle my touch controllers unnaturally to hold things straight, needs changing. Teleporting works, but the locomotion for walking just seems off, you can walk up any surface despite its gradient as if nothing is there. Parachuting: Thought this would make me feel sick, but surprisingly it didn`t, then again it only gets used for short distances since I found no way to get high enough to get a decent glide range from it. I will come back to this game when it is further developed, I hope the survival element brings more interest to it, because right now it really is not interesting for more than a couple of minutes.
It was nice and relaxing. As one who is suffering from cancer and chemotherapy, relaxation and getting away from it all is what I seek often. Fatigue keeps me from doing much adventuring or action games. With that said, I have only three requests at this time for the developer. They probably already have these in mind but just in case: The ability to delete an object. There might be a way but I haven't found it. I put the wrong window type in and couldn't get rid of it, so I just placed it out of the way. Windows that you can see through without the blurriness. I was building a small cabin on a hill overlooking the ocean and the window panes are blurry. Lastly, a way to save the island so that we can come back and work on our construction some more. If some of these have been addressed, I apologize in advance. I enjoy just wandering around and exploring too so the game is well worth the cost for me.
Нужно написать под названием игры , что она требует VR ! А ещё очень зря издатель не планирует делать игру без VR. С удовольствием играла бы без лишнего напряга для глаз и головы ( очки то не маленькие, как обычные из оптики))
Great start to the game...enjoying just building and checking out the island. Excited for the Survival features coming soon.
