The game has glitches. Picking up items and trying to put them back with my x-box controller freezed the game. Struggling through this game with those glitches made me to stop the game, however - total gameplay showed almost 4 hours of play. I requested a refund but Steam support denied it (I so-called played more than 2 hours - whilst I've been struggling for hours at end). About the game itselfs: graphics are great, however when you get stuck, they're no clues to help you (which is a shame - running around in the dark, clicking every point of intrest ....) Apparently there are 5 chapters in this game, I managed it to pass chapter 1 'cause I played the demo (which worked fine). After that chapter (and buying the game) it wasn't fun anymore. I have a few games in my account but will not buy games from Steam again 'cause Steam Support isn't reasonable to deal with.

If you love walking sims and Lovecraftian horror then this is the one for you. But the enemy chasing and insta kills don't feel necessary at all and would appreciate an option to turn that off.
Alessandro's best work yet. I couldn't put it down. The environmental visuals and ambience go beyond AAA status. The dread that builds up slowly, knowing something's about to happen. You brace for it thinking you're ready, and it still manages to surprise you. Walking sim with some fetch quests and exploration rewards. Journal notes help the story along. It helps if you've played the previous 2 games to tie it all together a bit more, but not at all necessary. This one stands on its own just fine. If you want a horror experience without all the cheap jump scares with over amped sounds, this is a must play.
Absolutely great game! Graphics are great. The world is large and open with lots to explore and get into. It feels alive. The atmosphere is phenomenal! Voice acting and sound is top notch as well. The story is just fantastic. Puzzle solving is simple but enjoyable. I love how there is lore everywhere! Plenty of secrets to come upon too. The only complaint I have is the monster chasing you. Even on easy I found it could see me just about anywhere. Luckily I found a path to keep it from spawning. Otherwise I would have quit playing. Maybe have an option so it doesn't just kill you or so it can't see as well? I wish I could get this to run in UEVR. Others have but it just won't hook for me. Anyway, of all the good games this guy has made this one is the best in my opinion.
I played the demo a year ago and LOVED it...WTF happened? Genuinely love the idea, the visuals are gorgeous... BUT, I simply can't recommend this. It's a long old slog of a game that could have been cut down to 2 hours. I wanted to rip out my eyes and stuff them up my A** out of pure frustration. Zero direction whatsoever, no quest log, no map, no compass...Absolutely NOTHING to help you know where to go or what to do, so you end up going on HUGE wild goose chases. Then there's the sheer butt load of notes, there's so many by half way through the game you want to weep just seeing another note. There's also nothing to do either, a little combat? puzzles? ANYTHING? No, you just spend over 4 hours walking about reading and picking up the odd item. At one point you walk one LOOONG loop to fetch one thing to use where you first started. Aaaah!! Great idea, lovely visuals but fails at the most important parts of what makes games great.
Alessandro Guzzo is a master at creating Lovecraftian first-person exploration games - starting with The Land of Pain, followed by The Alien Cube, and finally Cosmic Fear. The set pieces are beautiful to look at and eerie at the same time. The sound design is similarly successful. The gameplay mostly consists of walking, some stealth, and some light puzzle solving. The performance could still be improved, but I had no problems with bugs or glitches. If you like Lovecraftian world-building, I can clearly recommend this trilogy. Story-wise, I liked the predecessors a tiny bit more, but that may also be a matter of taste.
Great game, very well made and optimized. runs well and big detailed maps to explore and experience. Good story.
