I personally found this less than enjoyable. You are challenged to get big scores by allowing the bacteria to grow to a big size before attempting to curtail it. The act of removing the bacteria however isn't all that fun, so you end up making anti-fun before each level and it can be quite stressful. There are no rpg elements, or different tools/bugs to use.
I don't understand how to play this game, even after several times walking through the tutorial. Very confusing.

Disclamer: I'm friends with the devs This is a fun little puzzle game. While there are only a few mechanics they mesh together really well to creat a surpisingly deep and strategic puzzle game. The animations throughout the game are increadibly fluid and dynamic giving the game a very polished feel. If you like puzzles games definitely give it a try!
Containment is a wonderful little puzzle game. Such a simple mechanic, just click on a cluster of the board and do damage to the viruses. However, the addition of a risk/reward system by trading attack moves for research to make your attack more powerful is really neat. Each level has a new tweak to the rules that make them unique encounters. It has a wonderful look, both in the UI as well as the general art of the game. Everything is moving, like its alive. A really neat style. Especially for the price, this is a great value puzzle game.
Neat little puzzle game with an optional, but effective risk vs reward scoring system. At first it seemed strange to purposefully let more bacteria spawn to score more points, but as I played more it started to feel more natural. Lots of little details in the UI and animation add up to give the game a good bit of personality, and it's surprisingly relaxing. RNG in the bacteria spawning is both a blessing and a curse, as it shakes things up and adds replay value, though sometimes you just get dealt a bad hand. Fortunately, restarting is very quick if things go south. It's not super long, but the RNG and level editor add replayability, and the experience is ultimately very polished and fun. For the asking price, I recommend it!

Good little puzzle / strategy game - that is a great value at even at full price ($2 US). I was able to beat the base campaign in ~4hours... probably will take ~8-10 hours to beat the bonus levels and see if I can improve a high score or two. FYI if you want a more 'sandbox' game it will unlock after you 'beat' the campaign.
Very nice Game. The mechanics take a couple of lost games to fully understand, but then it is quite nice to play. Recommended if you like turn-based strategy games. Only criticism of mine is that there could be more levels or (simple) level creator and more variation between levels.
Developed and published by Finite Reflection Studios, Containment is a compact turn-based strategy game that transforms the concept of controlling bacterial outbreaks into an intelligent puzzle-solving experience. Rather than relying on complex visuals or an abundance of mechanics, it embraces a clean, minimalist approach where every action has meaningful consequences. Beneath its simple appearance lies a carefully balanced strategy game that rewards patience, planning, and efficient resource management. It is designed for players who enjoy thoughtful decision-making over fast-paced action, delivering an experience that becomes more engaging as its systems gradually unfold. The core gameplay revolves around containing the spread of bacteria across a grid-based environment using a limited supply of antibiotics. Since each turn allows the bacteria to expand, every move requires careful consideration. A standout feature is the research mechanic, which encourages players to deliberately allow bacteria to spread further in exchange for unlocking stronger antibiotics later in the level. This creates a compelling balance between immediate safety and long-term effectiveness, forcing players to weigh risks before committing to a strategy. Success depends not only on eliminating infections but also on understanding how bacterial behavior changes over time and how each decision influences future turns. Containment introduces additional mechanics that enrich its deceptively simple design. Bacteria gradually lose health every turn, isolated colonies eventually die on their own, and separating clusters can earn valuable bonus points. At the same time, conserving unused antibiotic doses contributes to higher scores, encouraging players to solve each puzzle as efficiently as possible rather than relying on brute force. These interconnected systems create satisfying strategic depth without overwhelming the player, making each stage feel like a carefully designed puzzle instead of a repetitive battle against spreading microbes. Replayability is one of the game's strongest qualities. Each level can be completed through multiple approaches, but earning the highest ratings requires optimizing every move and minimizing wasted resources. The three-star scoring system motivates players to revisit earlier stages in search of more efficient solutions, while online leaderboards add another layer of competition for those who enjoy refining their strategies. Although the campaign is relatively concise, the challenge of achieving perfect performance significantly extends its longevity for completionists and puzzle enthusiasts alike. Visually, Containment succeeds through clarity rather than spectacle. Its minimalist presentation keeps the focus squarely on tactical gameplay, with colorful bacterial cells and clean interface elements making the battlefield easy to interpret at a glance. Animations remain subtle yet effective, ensuring that players can quickly understand the consequences of each turn without unnecessary distractions. The soundtrack complements this design philosophy by providing calm, relaxing music that contrasts with the growing tension created by expanding bacterial colonies. Together, the visuals and audio establish a peaceful atmosphere that encourages careful thinking instead of frantic reactions. The game also does an excellent job of introducing its mechanics. An interactive tutorial explains each system clearly, making the learning process accessible even for newcomers to turn-based strategy games. The campaign's handcrafted levels gradually introduce fresh ideas, steadily increasing complexity without creating abrupt difficulty spikes. After completing the main set of challenges, players gain access to a sandbox mode that allows experimentation with different strategies and mechanics outside the structured campaign, providing additional opportunities to explore the game's systems. While Containment offers an impressive level of strategic depth for its size, its modest amount of content may leave some players wishing for additional levels or expanded gameplay modes. Those looking for lengthy campaigns or constantly evolving progression systems may reach the end relatively quickly. Likewise, players who prefer highly cinematic strategy games may find its minimalist presentation less exciting. However, these limitations stem from the game's focused design philosophy rather than a lack of polish, as every mechanic serves a meaningful purpose and every level feels thoughtfully crafted. Overall, Containment demonstrates how effective game design can emerge from a small collection of well-balanced mechanics. Its blend of tactical planning, resource conservation, risk management, and replayable puzzle design creates an experience that remains engaging despite its simplicity. The clean presentation, accessible learning curve, and rewarding optimization challenges make it an enjoyable title for fans of strategy and puzzle games alike. Although it does not aim to be a large-scale strategy epic, it excels within its chosen scope by offering intelligent gameplay that consistently rewards careful thought and efficient execution.
