Conqueror 940 AD is a turn-based resource management game that reminds me of the classic text-based and subsequently-inspired games such as the Oregon Trail. There are light RPG elements that expand the story as you progress and provide meaningful options that break up the grind of collecting resources. Though it starts out simply, the game has significant depth that becomes available the longer you play, which provides you with plenty of choices to make while preventing any sort of "option overload". There's a bit of a learning curve early on, but the encyclopedia, tooltips, and advisers provide enough of a guide that - through a pinch of trial and error - planning and strategy become evident. The majority of the gameplay involves making use of your "manpower" and collecting resources for your kingdom. You utilize research and building construction to improve your yields while making use of trade with the surrounding kingdoms. Meanwhile, advisers and petitioners to your court provide decision making opportunities that affect both your personal skills and your kingdoms resources. You also develop the capabilities of your fledgling nation to defend your kingdom from bandit raids, while eventually becoming militaristically-capable enough to challenge the nations that surround you.

TL;DR Conqueror 940 AD evokes a classic style of casual, turn-based gameplay that is both pleasing and mildly addicting. Pick it up if you want a game you can spend hours clicking through.
Currently the game is more of a town management simulator then an actual strategy game. However, the town...breaks once you build a wooden house. You are no longer able to see those who are petitioning in your throne room. Additionally, trading is a bit jank. You are required to have an upgrade for the Armory in order to trade more than like two or three times with other realms. Most of the tier two buildings are locked behind stone, and while I haven't played super far into the game to figure out what stone harvesting research is needed. Being raided on day 3 for most of your gold reserves is very obnoxious but I do understand that stuff happened alot during the time period. The early game very slow as you only trickle in one gold per day. That being said, it looks like this game can grow to something bigger. The ability to train your ruler is nice, although I have no idea how that effects your realm as of yet, other than arbritrary petiioning events.
I was provided a free key to test out the game and provide feedback. I was happy to do so, as I enjoy helping the indie community and have done so on other titles such as 'Green with Energy' and 'Simpocalypse'. I was looking forward to a turn-based strategy game as I've played a lot of them in the past, such as Colonization, Civilization, Deadlock, and others. The unfortunate thing was that there was 'wonderful new tools and UI bits' such as the manpower bar that I was told would make for enjoyable game play, but it wasn't even working. Other elements weren't working either and when I tried to contact the devs to help them with troubleshooting, I found that the Discord link on their website was invalid. Finally finding a link for their Discord, I was told 'yeah, we know' for the issues that I was happy to troubleshoot and work on with the team. Sorry, but the game has bugs and whomever was answering messages in the Discord gave me bad vibes. I can't recommend this game without some significant improvements to the UI and maybe some explanations as to 'why' things are happening in the game.
I have found this game to be fun to play. It takes you back to the medieval times and what it might have been like to get a kingdom started. Its fun to play, although at times seems a little slow, its also great the team has added instructions and suggestions when working through different scenarios. I understand its a new game and new brand, so I assume there will be some issues but, overall, I like that the dev team is active on discord and actively trying to correct issues as well as add additional features based on the discussions. I am enjoying the game and love the direction its going and the potential it has to expand.
Pretty bad game. Takes forever for you to actually do anything impactful.
Strange how quickly the hours seemed to get sucked up by the game. Bought it in the evening and before I knew, next day 7 hours gone. It has that typical one more turn vibe which is so addictive. There are some Early Access hiccups however when posted the devs responded acknowledging it and how to fix in future updates. Looking forward to the next updates and where the Dev team takes it. Fully recommend if you are looking for a nice relaxing game! Very suitable for Home Office these days
Quite buggy, but playable with some fixes. Enjoyable game, but definately rough around the edges. The early-mid game is a loooottt longer than end game.
First of all I played much more than 8 hours, since most of the tie i was offline. This is a nice indie strategic game without animations. it still has a few bugs and tiny fonts in the main window, but it's totally worth the asking price. It will appeal to city builders and 4X players. Music is very nice so you dont need to play your own while playing, and it does NOT annoy after dozen hours. Recommended.
It was a fun little game while it lasted.
First off, I really like this game. It can be made as easy or as hard as you like. I like the story and the RPG elements. For some reason, after 17 hours into the game, my saved games would not load and nothing would work. I tried reinstalling, but that didn't help. Now, I just turn it on once in a while, hoping that the game will work again. So in my experience, the game is a little quirky at best, but I still like the game a lot.
