This is a pretty basic game, the events seems so out of place some times and the details on characters and the other kingdoms is pretty lacking. It works pretty well tho as far as kingdom managements go, but its a pretty slow game and after a while it does get pretty boring. This game lacks in charm , its just another basic game that feels a bit empty. I would not recommend it but its not a bad game either. Update, a couple hours later... So yeah combat in this is pointless, bandits and other kingdoms attack you in much greater numbers and there is nothing you can do to prevent this. All you can do is focuse on building up a economy and use diplomacy to make them like you.
It is an interesting game, but its very time intensive with lots of repetitive clicking. The price is definitely not worth the games value. I would say this is a under $5 game in value. I cant in good conscious hit recommend for this because of these issues. But if they lower the base price to around $5, then I would recommend it.
Casual turn-based is the perfect term for this game. Lots of skills to level up and buildings to complete. It is a slow but enjoyable ride, where it does not feel like the end of the world if you miss doing something on a turn. While not getting overly complex in any area, it covers a lot of systems including, city management, trading, diplomacy, battles, resource management, and decision making. These choices you make can affect a variety of stats for your character and kingdom. Each turn you spend manpower to focus on different task within your kingdom. You can pause and shift focus on other task at any point, which is a feature I enjoyed. Trading is very important in this game, and it can sometimes feel like you will never complete an objective, but it is just a slower burn than most games in this genre and you cannot be afraid to hit that end turn button. It also has a nice story that sets the tone for the game and unfolds as you advance. A solid buy for $15 and if the early indications are any sign of what’s to come, I say Conqueror 940 has a bright and fulfilling future. This game is strangely compelling. I have a civilization-like desire to play one more turn and get that next research completed. For a developer's first game, it is pretty polished and I'm told you can complete the entire game with multiple endings. The devs are active on discord, and the road map looks like they are adding a ton of depth including incentives for replaying more than one playthrough. Its early access so there are a few quirks and areas that are a bit shallow in gameplay but overall, for the price and content, I'm happy. Can't wait to see where it goes.
Its funny how this game has only 1 Save Slot. I saved just before making a decision as I was not sure. I loaded from the save point, now I am not able to proceed as it keeps saying attend to request in throne room but there is no one there and game wouldn't proceed. 1 hr went waste, is it too hard to have at-least 3 save slots if not more. Really pathetic. Update: The developers do respond very fast,I am happy that they have sorted out the save issue by adding additional save slots. Cheers.
The game has a lot of potential and was a lot of fun. However, it seems to have some bugs. The Throne room does not work after about 30 minutes into the game. Trade works correctly about 1/2 of the time. Can not make weapons.
The Pro/Con of the game - it employs the same psychological tricks as Vegas and other Gambling dens to keep the mark playing just one more round. The Cons just to name a few 1) buggy as heck, they didn't due any logic tests on the markets prices, meaning if you can get the price of an item to 0,(with various discounts) then the system won't let you buy it at all and if you can get the price to go negative, then the system will pay you for buying it. Also apparently you can buy things in such quantity that it will push your bank account into the negative, but that is ok, the system will just zero it out for you in a bit. 2) Is there a hidden bonus being applied or is it a bug?? There were several story events / choices given that needed a certain trait value, sometime it wouldn't let me click these options, sometimes it would (my trait value not being high enough either way) without any explanation on why. 3) Little to no explanation of key mechanics of the game. You spend alot of time trying to manage your manpower with no explanation on how to get more, there is a very time consuming option to improve your relations with other countries with no real explanation on why. The army building mechanics were a bit murky as well, apparently it isn't enough to research and then buy / build bows and crossbows to give to your people to equip, you have to research the various job positions as well All in all, this game felt more like an beta early release game and not a finish product. ******************************************************************************** Edit 08/05/2022 So I came back after a time. While they did fix some of the bugs it still has glitches. To name two that I noticed 1) Just when a tournament finished the game would freeze and I would have to manually close it down and restart and even then it would sometimes freeze again (though not often) 2) Through events rewards it is possible to get more weapons in your armory then it can hold, if that happens you can no longer sell the weapons in the Armory, just get a message about how there isn't enough space in the armory for this action (even though i was trying to sell, not buy) Other then that, the game just felt poorly designed. **Diplomacy is too much of a time sink, not counting the time it takes to get to 100 charm, at 100 charm it takes approximately 3 visits to fill up 1 heart, with 10 hearts, that is roughly around 30 visits, at 5 days per visit that is 150 days for 1 kingdom (even more if they start out hostile). **End game just dragged on, I finally got enough manpower to do all 6 task but by then I was only doing two or three. ** Random events are a bit too random. So many time an event would pop up where I didn't have the skills to pick any of the options or I was rewarded with points in a skill I was already maxed out in. On the plus side, the interaction with the various advisors is amusing and they do help cut down the drudgery of click the buttons for the half a million time.
The game is improving allot the developers care about the world and want it to change.... they listen and try to fix glitches and problems... its rare to see such an active group of people that try to help out the game with so much devotion
I have only had the game for a few hours and I experienced a game ending bug. One of my counselors proposed I hold a ball and invite a lady but I could not choose any of the ladies and I could not exit the screen. The game seemed fun until that point. It seems more work is required by the developers.
This game is great. Its a text based turn style game. I have been getting lost in the gameplay to the point that hours can pass and I have not noticed it. It is early access and there are a few bugs that they are working on. But its a lot of fun if you like games like this. Reminds me of other turn based games, like Tradewinds.
