A horribly LAZY port...
$30, for a terrible, terrible port of a game that isn't even worth $15? How do they have the audacity to charge $30 for this, on PC, when it's such a dreadful experience to play it on PC? I mean sure, charge $15 for it on consoles or Switch where you can actually play the thing with the intended controls, but to charge TWICE what the game is worth on PC, AND then make such a terrible port, is just taking the piss Pros: Cons: #1. No mouse support whatsoever. This is BY FAR the biggest problem. #2. Can only partially customize keyboard controls (can only bind to CERTAIN keys and can't bind leftclick or righclick) #3. The keybindings are terrible. You use ' h j k u ' to play. The game would be SO MUCH more playable if you could use the mouse to pickup, rotate and throw objects, but NO, instead you gotta facking use ' h j k u ' #4. You can't choose a starting tank #5. You can't choose your starting mods #6. You can't choose your starting ammo #7. The game literally freezes if you alt+tab #8. The tutorial is bad... very few things are explained to you. Like after hours of playing, I STILL don't know what the signs with the numbers on the map mean. #9. The regional pricing for this game is horrible. The game costs more in 3rd-world countries like South Africa, Mexico and Poland, than it does in America.... that's just awful. In summary: The devs don't even care enough to make their game playable and enjoyable on PC, so why should you care about their game, if THEY don't even care about their game? Honestly baffled how little popularity this game seems to have. I'm guessing most of the players are spooked by the controls? They're a bit clunky but honestly after half an hour of gameplay I got used to it even on a keyboard. Overall game is quite polished with a great art style, funny characters and interactions, and lots of things to unlocks and look forward to. Only two complaints I have are that balance feels like a bit of an after thought with multiprojectile attacks + durability/damage gear being seemingly objectively better than everything else, and that there's no in game glossary. Closest thing you'll find on PC to rocket slime.
I don't normally write reviews, but here i am. Posted a message on the discussion board about a control remapping not working devs responded pretty quickly and got on top of the update within the next day. On top of that, this game is great fun. If you like the whole concept behind no heroes here, this is similar, except you're a tank instead of a castle. And you can throw things. Give the demo a try, would recommend a controller, but keyboard and mouse is still pretty fun!
Lot's of fun. Scratches that Rocket Slime itch.
I want to like this game, but I think it is geared more toward children, or young teens. The in-combat concept was missing some additional customization components, like being able to modify canon placement to alter trajectory path instead of just pulling a lever. The lever should switch conveyors instead of just magically shooting down a different lane. Just felt too simplistic where additional concepts could've been implemented to make for a more interactive experience.
While its not worth the full $30, getting it in a bundle, like the 2022 Jingle Jam as I did, or just at a discount, this game is loads of fun. Reminiscent of Overcooked, but now with tanks.
Pros: Great game, Great Art, Great Music, Fun Story Cons: Mouse and keyboard control rather janky [not fun at all :( ], controller is a must Alana best girl Edit: Key control can be rebinding now, so that's a plus :D
I usually don't write reviews but this game seems to have flown under a lot of folks' radars even though it deserves the attention, so here we go. WHAT IT IS An overcooked-style coop game where you shoot different types of ammo with a tank to defeat the enemy tank in a rock-scissors-paper style of combat. gameplay elements involve making ammo, managing conveyor belts and fighting off monsters. You also get to unlock and purchase many different uprgrades and ammo types. PROS - Tons of stuff to unlock: weapons, upgrades and tanks to try out, great replayability. - Easy to understand and quick gameplay loop. - Good couch coop experience - many missions to play CONS - Missions are a bit generic, to the point of they seem to be randomly generated. They aren't because the game keeps track of the ones you did already. - Campaign progression is not explained and I'm still not sure how it works. Basically, there are story missions you do for one of the 3 companies in the game, and they progress the story bar for the respective company, while decreasing the other 2. When you reach 100, the credits roll, but you can still play, and there are a lot of mission for that company you still haven't played. I'm not even sure the game has an "end" because it keeps offering missions again you've already cleared. This, along with the missions being very generic, gives the game a directionless feel. - Some gameplay systems are not explained at all. I've seen the credits with all 3 companies and I'm still not sure how the combo meter works - The game is fairly easy, so even though you have a lot of customisation in terms of weapons, mods, and you can do really OP combos, most of the time you don't even need to watch out for the enemy ammo. Overall, I really recommend it as a couch co-op experience if you are into overcooked, lovers in a dangerous spacetime or no heroes here. If you are playing alone, I'm not sure it's worth it because the gameplay is fairly simple and a bit underdeveloped.
