I think the people most likely to enjoy this are fans of cave flyers, so I give it a recommended rating since that appears to be the game's target audience. Meaning if you look at this list and think to yourself "yeah my kind of games," then Colossus Mission will be for you. Everyone else will probably want to hold off on it, or at least wait to see if it gets any substantial updates. In about an hour of play, I completed 55 of 73 levels. I expect it would take me another hour to beat the rest of them; the later levels were really becoming a steep challenge for me. The scoring system allows you to spend your earned points to skip stages if you find them too difficult. Each skip costs 5 points, and you can earn up to 3 points per stage depending on how well you perform while completing them Presentation-wise, this really gives an impression of "my first Unity game" - basic stock assets, sound effects, fonts, and so on. There's a few story panels at the beginning that you'll quickly forget. It's not an attractive game. But, the gameplay is solid. There are new concepts introduced every few levels - new hazards, enemies, trigger panels, mines, gravity changes, etc. And they are all arranged in creative ways, for the most part. Even though there were a few times where I was getting really frustrated trying to get past a specific obstacle (damned asteroids), I never felt that the game was unfair at all. Everything here is beatable with enough practice. As far as the updates I think it needs - achievements and especially Steam leaderboard support feel like necessary features - speedrunners could have a good time with this game, but part of that appeal is competing against your Steam friends to get the best times. Also, even though the controls are very simple (A and D to rotate, W to thrust), they should be made rebindable for people who use AZERTY or other non-standard keyboards.
"Colossus Mission - adventure in space, arcade game" is a somewhat unimaginative Moonlander/SpaceWar!/Asteroids-in-a-maze game where you control the space shuttle in a cavern/complex and must move through each level using Moonlander/SpaceWar! style turn and thrust movement. There's a number of obstacles to avoid as you need to keep your health up, and running into stuff hurts you, but there's "healing" blobs strewn about to help you keep going. On the upside this is story driven as you explore some alien ship but get teleported somewhere else. While some effort went into game design, and there's over 70 bespoke levels (none of which are fun to play), the technical implementation was phoned in. While the game works it's laughably bad in some parts... like the space shuttle you control is a 2D sprite that's been rendered from an angle, so you get this bizarre, frankly stupid view of your ship rotating around and the shadows etc looking just wrong... it's really terrible. Did they flip the asset for the spaceship? That might explain why it looks so misplaced. The rest of the game isn't any better, either. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. The game features somewhat lazy, simplistic 2D graphics, of the type you normally expect to see in low effort Flash/browser games and mobile apps. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 2 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from (over 9,000 completely free titles), the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. "Colossus Mission - adventure in space, arcade game" is relatively cheap at $3 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.
Ciekawa, zręcznościowa, Polska gra. Polecam wszystkim, kto lubi zręcznościówki.

COLOSSUS MISSION is an arcade game with raw and slightly angular graphics and a various levels of difficulty. The first stages are easy but then the game becomes much more difficult. I recommend it to players who are interested in flawless playing games on time. Check my other reviews at https://store.steampowered.com/curator/38149651/ ☺️.
http://hakimodo.pl/2021/03/31/colossus-mission-recenzja/ Gra polskiego autorstwa. Ocena? Takie 4-5/10. Można pograć.
Colossus Mission, developed and published by FreeMind S.A., is a compact and challenging 2D arcade-style game that pays homage to classic space navigation titles with a modern twist. Set against the backdrop of a mysterious alien vessel appearing in low Earth orbit, the game thrusts you into the role of an astronaut exploring the interior of this enormous, enigmatic craft. While the narrative is kept minimal and mostly implied through the setting, it provides enough context to frame the gameplay: nations have attempted to breach the alien ship, but only your crew succeeds, and it falls to you to navigate the ship’s dangerous interiors to uncover what lies within. The gameplay is centered around piloting a small spacecraft through narrow corridors, hazardous chambers, and increasingly complex internal environments. The controls are simple but precise—your ship rotates and moves forward using thrust, requiring careful maneuvering and a steady hand to avoid crashing into walls, mines, or traps. The physics-based movement is satisfying, and there’s a definite learning curve that rewards players who take time to master momentum and positioning. While early levels are relatively straightforward, the game quickly ramps up the difficulty, introducing moving obstacles, gravity wells, lasers, and more. By the time you're deep into the game’s 73 levels, the experience has shifted from casual exploration to demanding precision flying. What keeps the challenge from becoming overwhelming is a clever points-based skip system. If a level proves too frustrating, you can spend in-game points to bypass it and continue your progression. This feature softens the game's steeper difficulty spikes, making it accessible to a wider audience without watering down the experience for players seeking a real test of skill. Still, even with this system in place, later levels can feel quite punishing, requiring memorization, pinpoint control, and a high tolerance for repetition. For those who enjoy arcade-style games that demand mastery and patience, Colossus Mission offers a rewarding, if sometimes unforgiving, experience. Visually, the game falls on the more functional side of the indie spectrum. The environments are serviceable but unpolished, with simple sprite work and basic effects. Some assets appear generic or lacking in refinement, which detracts from the overall immersion. The ship design, enemy hazards, and environmental elements get the job done, but there’s little in the way of visual flair or atmospheric storytelling through the art itself. The user interface is equally barebones, and the lack of settings like resolution control or customizable key bindings might frustrate players using non-standard setups. Audio design is minimal as well, with simple effects and background music that feel like placeholders rather than immersive soundscapes. Despite these presentational shortcomings, the core gameplay loop remains engaging for the right type of player. The satisfaction of clearing a particularly tough level or narrowly navigating through a deadly obstacle field is very real, and the game’s large number of stages ensures there’s always another challenge waiting. The pacing can occasionally feel uneven, with some levels dragging or lacking variety, but the gradual introduction of new mechanics and hazards helps keep the experience from going stale too quickly. The later stages in particular do a good job of pushing the player’s reflexes and understanding of the game’s mechanics to their limits. In terms of content and value, Colossus Mission is an easy recommendation for budget-conscious gamers looking for a substantial arcade challenge. Priced affordably and often discounted, the game offers several hours of gameplay and a lot of replay potential, especially for those aiming to beat every level or improve their completion times. However, it’s important to temper expectations: this is not a polished AAA experience, nor does it try to be. It’s a passion project with a clear gameplay focus, and its appeal lies in its simplicity, difficulty, and old-school arcade sensibility. Ultimately, Colossus Mission is a solid but unrefined game that delivers a very specific kind of experience. It’s not about story, graphics, or cinematic immersion—it’s about tight navigation, high-stakes obstacle dodging, and the gratification of clearing a difficult stage after multiple attempts. Its lack of polish and sparse presentation may turn away players looking for visual or narrative depth, but for fans of retro-inspired space arcade games, it offers a lengthy, challenging journey into the heart of a very hostile alien machine. Rating: 5/10
