Colormeleons might look fun and cute, but it's a huge waste of time. The game is glitchy, with more bugs than features, and the achievements are nearly impossible to get. It takes forever to collect enough canvas and paint to make a decent painting and the game doesn't even have enough secrets to make it interesting. It's basically like MS Paint in ultra-slow mode, and even if you do manage to make something that looks cool, the developer won't even tell you if they like it or not. The game never seems to get any better, and the updates are few and far between. The developer even spends more time promoting a different game than fixing the problems with this one. It's a shame, because the game could have been really fun and creative, but instead it's just tedious and glitchy. I wouldn't recommend it- it's not worth the time or effort. If you're looking for a game to pass the time, look somewhere else. The game also has a very small and dedicated community, which I find a bit odd since it's such a waste of time. People obviously have different opinions, but I find it strange that people put so much time and effort into a game that is so flawed and disappointing. The worst part is that there's really no way to win or even progress in the game. You can collect paint, but it's so slow and tedious that it's not even worth the effort. There's no real reward either- you don't get any points, or money, or even recognition. It's just a pointless, time-consuming activity. All in all, Colormeleons is a terrible game. It's not even really a game- there's no game loop, no interaction, and no meaningful feedback. It's just a slow, tedious mess with few redeemable qualities. Don't waste your time on this game- there are much better ways to spend your time.

Colormeleons are like chameleons, but with severe amnesia. They forgot how to change their color. Well..., either that or a problem with the tuning the photonic response of a lattice of small guanine nanocrystals in the s-iridophores. Either case colormeleons have one color and will always be that one color. Wake up a sleeping colormeleon to get some paint. The Colormeleons game is an idler. There is not much to do while waiting for the colormeleons to fall asleep. Early game, when you have only one colormeleon, is very slow. Once you have a nice selection of different colormeleons the game start to shape a bit more and you'd be able to start painting and join contests / events. Do not worry, the paint is used but not consumed. Each can of paint equals to one pixel on the canvas, so you are going to need to idle for a few cans. Colormeleons is a simple and nice idle game. The game, while a few years old, is still getting updates and I am looking forward to future updates.
The developer made this for us steam inventory drops collectors <3
Colormeleons (AKA Colorama) is not really a game. Games contain meaningful gamelike interaction and game loops, which are absent in this software. This does have game-like elements, however. The best way to describe this is MS-Paint in ultra-slow mode. In order to create crappy low res 2D pixel "art", you need to idle/click through a low res MS-paint environment to get chameleons to give you enough paint to paint the 2D retro pixel "art" that you want to paint. Then, you can post a screen shot and the developer will maybe tell you if they like your "art" or not. For those unfamiliar with what actually makes something a game, a "game loop" describes the interaction and feedback a gamer has when playing a game. Tetris, for example, has a game loop where a random block appears, the gamer interacts with the block to position it, and then the game decides if that finishes a row or not, increases the players score if any rows were completed, then gives the gamer another block to position. Counter-Strike has a game loop where a player seeks another player, tests their skill against that player by shooting them or being shot, the computer rewards the player if they win, and then if the player survives, they repeat that loop. There's no loop here, no true interactive feedback. It simply is not a game, it cannot be "played". To put it another way... is MS-Paint a game? If not, then you can see why this isn't either. This has misleadingly been launched in the "Games" section of Steam instead of the "Software" section. This is a common mistake for developers who are new to Steam, or don't understand the difference between games and software which isn't a game. It seems this software published incorrectly as a game is simply lack of experience/knowledge of the correct process. Here's a link for the process to publish non-game software on Steam: Steam Developer Help With Software Publishing It's unfortunate this process was not known about/followed, resulting in a software application being published in the wrong place. Publishing things which aren't games on Steam in the Games section as games is misleading to gamers and somewhat harmful, because it pollutes the Steam marketplace and takes away visibility and market exposure for genuine game developers who do the right thing and make games for gamers. There are no gameplay loops in this software, no "gameplay", no meaningful game like interaction. It's a software application and as such has no merits as a video game for gamers. Because of this, I cannot recommend this non-game software as a game to gamers.
Enjoyable
