Collider is a very badly made multiplayer centric... well, I'd call it a kind of SpaceWar!/Asteroids ripoff but I'm pretty sure the developer couldn't work out how to do the simplistic propulsion physics of those games so it's just a top-down shooter/bullet hell game where you can move around inertialessly with WASD... and unfortunately, that's the only "nice" thing that can be said about this shovelware. Oh, there's bots, so it can be played (because, you know, there's no actual human players, because this is garbage). So there, two "nice" things about the game. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The game features extremely lazy, minimalist "art", of the type you normally expect to see in low effort Flash/browser games and mobile apps. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. PC gamers will be insulted by the demand from the developer that a console peasant children's toy controller should be used, despite this being on PC. Developers should try to be aware which platform they're developing for, and must never, under any circumstances dictate to gamers how their games are to be experienced. Some of the defects in the game can be attributed to the choice of using the video game construction kit/toolset, Love 2D. This is a very poor quality toolset sometimes used by amateur/unskilled developers as it doesn't require advanced game development skills, but unfortunately has very limited capabilities. Just as you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, you can't make a great video game if you use a terrible engine. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 6 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it... and remember, this crapfest is intended for up to 8 players! That means the game never reached the number of players it's supposed to support... did the developer not have 7 friends to test the game with? Given how bad the game is, if you do have any friends, and you ask them to play this with you, you won't have any friends anymore. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from (over 9,000 completely free titles), the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. Collider is laughably overpriced at $3 (for a game where the developer didn't even know how to do computer graphics), and it's so not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.

Nope, don't know what I was thinking, but it is just boring... if you find yourself trying to play this at a party, you messed up and your parties suck.
Now, i first saw this game on Orlygift, which gives out codes in raffles for steam games, and it actually looked really fun, despite the simple premise and design. So I decided to pony up and buy the game for myself, after not winning it. First of all, even though it looks like an HD asteroids remake meets a pong ROM hack, the vibrant backgrounds and EDM soundtrack support it, allowing you to stay enveloped in the game. Unfortunately if you want to play every mode, you need at least one controller and a sperate human being (unless you're really good at multitasking). And even though the two multiplayer required modes are more for fun and playing around, that is what they are designed to do. The single player modes (which can be played with up to 8 players like the rest) are more focused on survival, which is well fitting. These three modes are Acrobat, compression, and Core Defence, with each mode getting a couple more mechanics than the last, and are varient enough to not get stale. Acrobat is a mode where you simply have to not get hit. This is for players who are more run than gun, as it doesn't include the gun feature like the other modes, though this is not a bad thing, as it allows the player(s) to focus on dodging the bullets, or enemies as they're called in the game. This mode also spawns "Seekers" occasionally, who will follow you until you die. They are stopped by the center aroun the core, but it's a circle, so they just slide around it, adding a better challenge to the simple mode. Compression mode is like acrobat mode, you still have to dodge enemies, but three things are different. 1. You can get powerups. 2. You have a gun mechanic. 3. The walls are closing in on you. There are no seekers, but the walls are a bigger problem. Now touching them won't kill you, but getting squished isn't impossible. The walls move in slowly, but they get closser every time you shoot the core's circle, or the walls, which ou will do a lot, so only grab the multishot power up if it's absolutely neccessary. Now Core Defence is different. Veeeery different. In core defence, you are ctually siding with the core that has tried to kill you over and over again, and what do you get to protect it? Defences which I call "cores", because it's easier. These cores vary from powerup genorating factories, to the classic shields and turrets. You will have a _lot_ of cores if you can place them close enough to the center core, and there will be many lines close up, and that's good. Now you cannot control when or how you get the power ups, you can just hope you get a good one, but over all it is one of the best modes in the game, and it gets even better from the fact it's the most... "in depth" single player available mode. Overall this game is just fun, fun, fun, and fun, although I reccomend it to people who have a lot of gamer friends, so you can enjoy it how it's supposed to be played, with friends. Get this game.

Disclaimer: The copy of this game was provided by the developer for review purposes. Collider is a great local multiplayer game that is a lot of fun to play with friends. Each game is quick and exciting leaving you wanting to play again and again. It is a good value for the money for anyone who likes to get together with friends for some quick action. Pros: 5 very unique game modes that provide a good mix of competitive and cooperative play. Excellent controls; smooth and responsive. Great variety of music and backgrounds. Unique and fitting game mode selection screen. Fast and engaging. Cons: Local multiplayer only; sometimes it's hard to get 6+ people in the same room at the same time. Local multiplayer can be difficult huddled around a small screen. No option for NPC players; It would be nice to play with "friends" even when you dont have any. Very challenging with mouse/keyboard; Make sure you can support multiple gamepads. No options; Would like to see basic options for windowed mode, music/background selection, etc.
