[b]june 2020 edit:[/b] v3.0 was supposed to fix some issues (you can retry levels from the results screen now), but they're mostly still there, and when the patch came out, none of the levels were playable, they went straight to the result screen with a bronze rating, then the 'fix' erased all my progress. stay very far away from this game.
[b]code tracer[/b] is basically a game about cutting wires (called codes here) and disarming bombs so that they don't destroy cores on the levels. it's not just a matter of making a cut next to each bomb though, the so-called 'limit' tells you how many tiles you can go without making a cut, and layouts can get quite tricky.
there are [b]33 levels[/b] in 3 level packs, one pack unlocked at a time. you start with 4 unlocked levels and get medals for completion to unlock more. 8 regular levels (layout, number of bombs and limit visible beforehand), a boss level to unlock the next pack (no preliminary info, completely dark except your immediate surroundings), and 2 bonus levels.
a bronze medal is awarded for level completion, worth 1 medal, silver and gold are worth 2 and 3 respectively, and can be had for more points, which is based on the number of cuts and your time. [b]this is originally a heavily timed game, but an untimed easy mode got patched in.[/b] since there's no time bonus in that case, the best medal you can get is bronze, but after some further patching 9 levels can be unlocked now simply by completing them and [b]you'll need full gold for the 2 bonus levels in each pack[/b].
there's a tutorial and random tips before the levels, separate volume settings got added upon request, but [b]no full screen mode or resolutions, just a small window[/b]. arrows or wasd to move, space to select something in the menu or cut in-game, and 'x' to go back. no alternatives, no rebinding, not ideal, but you can make level results appear immediately, which is nice.
what's even more annoying is [b]you can't restart a level easily[/b], gotta go through the menus again after game over and even level completion to play the next one, and the overlay doesn't work either, can't take screenshots.
graphics are just about functional, the music's way too short, gets repetitive very fast and looping is not seamless, plus due to clunkiness [b]it's just not fun to play in its current state[/b]. would possibly be worth checking out after the issues get fixed, as long as you're fine with some timed gameplay to unlock every level, or not playing all the levels.
