"Please make me human."
A sudden and unexplained global insurgence of AI has left the former utopian city of Tsukumo in ruins.
Having lived there during his childhood, Hinata often hid at a botanical garden as his safe haven. There, he met a girl who helped him overcome his trauma, and he fell in love with her. On the day he left, he proposed to her.
Upon returning to Tsukumo over summer break, Hinata hears rumors of a ghost in the now-abandoned botanical garden who is looking after the flowers. He goes to investigate and meets a humanoid girl who hopes to one day become human.
"I may not look like much, but I actually have a fiancé. He promised to come here when those flowers bloom."
Even as Hinata stands before her, she does not realize who he is.
Thus, an unforgettable summer unfolds between a boy who has nowhere to call home and a humanoid girl who dreams of marriage...

nice
A very solid, touching story we all know and love, and expected from Frontwing. The premise this time is another boy meets girl (in this case, a humanoid robot girl). If that sounds familiar, it's because one of Frontwing's earlier work was just like that (Atri). And similar to Atri, Cocoro also takes place in a somewhat post apocalyptic world so to speak, and because this is by Frontwing, fans will naturally compare the two often. I do believe if you enjoyed Atri a lot, you will enjoy Cocoro a lot. I found the story to be simple, yet very effective. While it was rather standard, and pretty predictable too for the most part, I do not believe this to be a bad thing. Cliche can be good if well executed, and in my opinion, I think Cocoro did a good job in that department. Out of every heroine from Frontwing so far, I conclude that Cocoro herself is one of the best, strongly developed character written from them, which is ironic considering she's a robot. But in Cocoro's case, I think the VN did an amazing job in establishing a reason for Cocoro to "develop a personality" and grow as a person. Without going into technical details, I think Cocoro's development and how this was setup to be pretty well done, unlike some of the other fictions with robot characters, as I think one of the hardest part of being a writer of these type of robotic science fiction is how to develop a personality or character for a robot without sounding too far-fetched. The story of Cocoro the VN is nice. While I feel the beginning was a tad slow, it gradually picks up until the climax when I simply got hooked to the story. Cocoro is shorter than Atri and Ginka, while about the same length as Kanade, and despite the short length, I think Cocoro did a good job with its pacing and tying up loose ends neatly, different from Kanade where I felt that some parts of the VN felt rushed or underdeveloped. It seems this short length will be the norm for this type of work from Frontwing going forward, but considering the quality of Cocoro, I welcome it and cannot wait for their next work. So in conclusion, Cocoro is a very solid VN, with strong character development and nice world building. If you loved Frontwing's former work Atri, or even Ginka and Kanade, then Cocoro will not disappoint you.
