Truly excellent deckbuilder, with fantastic controls for streaming to your phone and using the touch-screen controller.
Slay the Spire meets Shogun Showdown in space with FTL vibes great gameplay, good replayability, great music, and some fun humourous dialogue to go with it great on Steam Deck definitely a gem only negligible negatives are some QOL changes which could improve replayability: - card/artifact list with filters - identify straight in gameplay which cards/artifacts are new/undiscovered - easily identify which crew combos have been used/successful without having to backtrack to codex - filterable run history - and... - shop music should keep playing until next area!
A fun kind of game that carries across some of the characters from Sunshine Heavy Industries. its a fun mechanic with cards and simple movement to do ship battles across four sectors of space (not unlike a fun version of FTL), but with the storyline of a time loop. Relaxing game that is fun to play with just the right balance of challenge. Definite recomendation from me. Worth your $ if you want something to unwind with.
A very charming roguelike deckbuilder. Cobalt Core adds to the formula by having you manage your positioning during fights and forcing you to make tactical decisions based on the available cards and resources. There is depth to the systems and things can interact in interesting ways. Rarely is a fight completely unwinnable and with clever play and patience you can outwit most opponents even with weak cards. Starting every run you choose a crew of three and this crew determines the cards you get. Everyone has a specific style and finding your favorites will take a few gos to find how synergies work. For example I really like Max (exhausting and enchanting cards) + Isaac (drones) to create drone armies. One thing that really made me like the game is the amount of character it has, the music, the, well... characters, the funny writing. The crewmates are bunch of goobers and even though they get blown up over and over in a timeloop, they take it in stride and remain positive. Cobalt Core leans on the easier side of deckbuilders and I won my first five games in a row (of course I say this coming from my Slay the Spire A20 runs...) Some people might take that as a negative and I can understand it. Thankfully there are multiple harder difficulties to choose from if the challenge is not enough on the lower levels. Find your favorite crew combo, scale the difficulty up and see how high you can go! All in all, I really enjoy Cobalt Core and wouldn't mind seeing more of it some day. Luckily this game still has tons of things to see! Recommended for people looking for a bit more chill deckbuilders :)
Game breaking bugs galore since the update. Super obvious stuff. I've restarted so may times and the bugs remain. So obvious I'm not even going to list them. Play your own game devs.
