Cool short game
really good story, very good music, addicting as hell gameplay
Awesome, deck builder. Music and graphics are very cozy. Wish there were more than three floors, at least that's how far I got on my first clear. Highly recommend!
Deckbuilding aspect is fun, builds are unique and interesting. Art, story, music all lovely vibes. Characters are fun to see how the interact with each other. Strong recommend.
overall solid, though it wears its influences too closely for me to appreciate its differences. it doesn't help that this game is comparatively bite-sized, which forces the player to rely on a small set of optimal strategies. 5/10
是款好遊戲!遊戲音樂超級好聽!!
FTL-like Turnbased Deckbuilder - with humorously witty, bantering critters
it guud
I am having a lot of fun with the silliness of the game's story and characters but how much the combat requires that "chess thinking" of understanding multiple moves ahead but it's mixed with the chaos of "Robo Rally". I will say, one aspect that has been vexing for me is the lack of ability to "pick your battles" in a meaningful way because of how different the various enemies can be. Certain enemy types will just STOMP certain builds because you are always deciding where you're vulnerable as much as where you're strong. Building a constant "all arounder" is near impossible and also means you won't get any quick victories. I know the map shows where the Elite encounters are on the map, but I've been mud-stomped in non-Elite fights because of build and obliterated Elites in 1 turn when I was the exact counter to their build. If you could just see what enemy is in the NEXT node you're going to would be handy. Maybe it only gives you their playstyle if you've encountered them before. Or artifacts that can provide the option (which may be in the game, I haven't completed EVERYTHING), but the main issue with artifact solution is that they're so rare and random. 2nd minor thought is some kind of marker to let players know when they have or have not picked an option at certain encounters before. Some of us don't have that kind of memory to remember these hundreds of different things.
A very charming roguelike deckbuilder. Cobalt Core adds to the formula by having you manage your positioning during fights and forcing you to make tactical decisions based on the available cards and resources. There is depth to the systems and things can interact in interesting ways. Rarely is a fight completely unwinnable and with clever play and patience you can outwit most opponents even with weak cards. Starting every run you choose a crew of three and this crew determines the cards you get. Everyone has a specific style and finding your favorites will take a few gos to find how synergies work. For example I really like Max (exhausting and enchanting cards) + Isaac (drones) to create drone armies. One thing that really made me like the game is the amount of character it has, the music, the, well... characters, the funny writing. The crewmates are bunch of goobers and even though they get blown up over and over in a timeloop, they take it in stride and remain positive. Cobalt Core leans on the easier side of deckbuilders and I won my first five games in a row (of course I say this coming from my Slay the Spire A20 runs...) Some people might take that as a negative and I can understand it. Thankfully there are multiple harder difficulties to choose from if the challenge is not enough on the lower levels. Find your favorite crew combo, scale the difficulty up and see how high you can go! All in all, I really enjoy Cobalt Core and wouldn't mind seeing more of it some day. Luckily this game still has tons of things to see! Recommended for people looking for a bit more chill deckbuilders :)
