Loved the plot, pacing and writing. Its a nice homage to other games like the 999 series. Totally recommended if you like the genre.
This game has an incredibly compelling plot and puzzles that can be genuinely hard that are mostly satisfying when completed. It is a great homage to the Zero Escape series and you should absolutely play it if you are a fan.
I went in expecting a budget Zero Escape, but came out thoroughly satisfied with the experience. It's pretty fast-paced, the music's good at setting the atmosphere, the puzzles are fun, and the plot was never predictable. My only complaints are the puzzles aren't all the same difficulty, and there was a Ren'Py bug when viewing the flowchart during a certain ending. However, I definitely recommend checking this out if you enjoy mysteries, puzzles, or escape room games.
Interesting style and concept, like a fast 999 with hardest puzzles, felt like matpat mixing genotypes
Great story; fun puzzles; great purchase.
Story starts off a little awkward, but works fine once it settles in to itself and it had no difficulty getting me invested. There are a few plot points that don't make sense in hindsight, so there are either plot holes or some details that I missed. However, the puzzles are great. I expected them to be pretty basic stuff, but there were some really satisfying moments where it was challenging without me ever getting completely stuck.
This review is more neutral than positive because Steam won't allow neutral one. First thing you probably should know - I rushed this game for review in 2,5 hours, but even with all skips I made this game won't exceed four hours. I don't know why developer put "7+ hours" into description, but if you are mediocre puzzle solver you still will finish this game much faster. Compared to other similar games I played recently (Head AS Code, Zodiac Trial, Sekimeiya) this project is total lackster. Second problem with game which comes also from longivity - it's totally expensive for such hours mark. Regardless of region price you have it's still quite high. I understand many visual novels, especially with gameplay parts, try to get back all money gone to art and music, but according to credits, some of it's music already comes from mostly-free resources and BGs are redrawn photos. So I find this price overkill and somehow greedy on developer part. However, if you are somehow fine with these problems, overall this project is good and that's why I'm making this review "positive". It got few bugs like crushing on flochart during near-end sequence, but since it's Renpy you can simply rollback. UI and design are nice and complement overall story and gameplay. Speaking of these, if you are fan of Zero Escape, you will find this game fun, if short. There is helpful flowchart, which allows you to track all scenes and replay these at whim (which maybe adds to game shorteness). Puzzles are not that hard, but conceptual and feel nice. Finding all endings gives no such "wow" effect as its rival VNs, but all of these ends are still logical and emotional enough to be invested. Main part of game is it's cast. It's not that big and they are self-presenting themselves quite suddenly and fast, but they still act quite realistic and, aside from mentioned in synopsis doctor Janus (whose mentality should be seriously questioned) are mostly likeable. If you read similar stories before, you may find twists and final ending too simple and predictable (you may solve it's "puzzle" near hour mark if you are familiar with ZE or such), but they are still nice and do not feel "cringy" to say developer tried to copy others to get some fast money. So if you are fan of mystery and suspence VNs with puzzles you should probably catch this game on future sale to have one nice evening of pseudoscientific adventure. Edit: developer removed "7+ hours of gameplay" from description because it became obvious people are finishing this game faster than that. Also, there is patch which probably solved problem with flowchart. So if you have no problem with game cost you are free to try.
Interesting plot, good writing, fantastic flowchart, and fun puzzles, especially the genetics ones. Make sure your expectations are in the right place--it's a short, cheap visual novel--but it's great for what it is and certainly worth the $5. The developers clearly cared about what they were making, and sometimes it's nice to get a quick fix of sci-fi murder mystery without it needing to be an overwhelming commitment (I got all endings in one sitting).
If you're a fan of Uchikoshi works such like Infinity Saga and Zero Escape Trilogy, I recommend you totally this game. It was short, but enjoyable in the end. I was expecting some mysteries (readed too much Uchikoshi's novels) already, but there are others which was unexpected to me. Is worth to play!
A short and sweet experience, will be enjoyed by fans of Zero Escape-esque stories. The puzzles were of reasonable difficulty.
