Full review: https://www.lifeisxbox.eu/review-classified-stories-the-tome-of-myrkah/ I was very curious about Classified Stories: The Tome of Myrkah and I’m glad I ended up enjoying this micro-adventure so much. The story and puzzles are so much fun, and I had a few light jump scares. I cannot wait to see what other short stories this game will offer in the future!
I'm a sucker for Lovecraftian slow burners, and so far this one has had me thoroughly entertained. It relies heavily on the classic written-messages-scattered-throughout-the-level mechanic, but thankfully they're very well written, making it fun to piece together what has happened. It looks good and feels good; it maybe could've done with a bit more music but from what I understand this is a one-man dev team so what's on offer is great when you factor that in. No idea if it's intentional, but the farmhouse reminds me of the very first location you visit in Dark Corners of the Earth, and that's a nice big plus in my book. If intentional, it's a subtle nod done really well. If not, well, dark forces must be at work, and that's good news for this kind of game. Curious where this will take me. And excited!
I played both this and Color out of Space back-to-back, both of these are short but very fun games. I hope they make another one because I will definitely pick it up. Great Lovecraft style with some fun simple combat and good atmosphere. I recommend both games if you are curious. You can customize KB\M, there is no FOV slider but the default was good for a 32” 2K Monitor. Buy it and play it
Sure, why not? A simple Lovecraftian game. It checks all of the boxes. Picture this as sort of a "side-mission" if you will, in a game like The Sinking City, or Call of Cthulhu. Not to jab at the developers or anything. I love any Lovecraft themed game that pops up now and again, and this is worth the small price tag.
It's not bad. It's a bit overpriced for what it is, even when I picked it up on sale during the winter sale for just shy of 5 euro. It's just barely over a hour of gameplay, and what you get for that is a competently put together house with many locked rooms and boxes, that you need to explore, find items, and unlock bit by bit. They're also included combat which I'm not entirely sure about - there's one time of imp that comes at you sporadically through portals and you shoot them with a pistol until they fall down. It's not revolutionary stuff, it's just there. There's a few other oddities, like once where I got stuck for a bit because a door wouldn't open even though I had gotten all the pieces of the door key puzzle to open, so I did another full loop of the house until I realised that to open the door I had to press use on the door, and not on the giant lock in the middle. It wasn't intuitive at all. Also I couldn't get over how quiet everything was. As you explored the house it was deathly silent. And not in an atmospheric point of view, it was just absent any form of audio at all. So overall, recommended on sale.
This is a beautiful little game. It is short indeed (it took me 2.8 hours to clock) but unlike many short indie games it runs very well and looks great. The artists attention to detail is very pleasing to the eye and though it's built with unity it looks very much like they used the unreal engine. I really enjoyed the graphics. I'm a crap reviewer and am terrible at describing games but I was compelled to say something at least so...yeah, if you like good, short indie spooky games give it a go.
Over all this is a good game. I wish in the house in the basement there were more health bottles. I may have spent about 30 mins saving every few seconds because one hit I was dead. What a pain. The gun was to loud. Really no need for that. I give this game a 8/10
The game was short but I had fun playing it. I liked the atmosphere and found it enjoyable to walk around, solve the puzzles and take down the occasional monster. I think the tensionate moments were handled well. The graphics are fine; the lack of voices/music made the experience feel a bit dry. Also, I would have liked more info when examining objects. Early in the game I encountered two blocking bugs which required me to restart the game from the beginning; I contacted the dev and he was quite helpful and quick to fix them (actually one was already fixed). Overall I liked the game and i`d say that (surprisingly) it`s atmosphere reminded me of certain moments from Half-Life.
Ansonsten gerne weitere Spiele in diesem Stil! :) Wer das Let's Play auf Deutsch schauen möchte: https://bit.ly/3dhRKbp
