its pretty ♥♥♥♥, they bombed the characters personalitys and the game is just the same thing over and over nothing really changes. sometimes the bots just either are very easy and do ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to help them or they stall for 25 minutes
Dr Mario if it was good
bought this game just to leave a bad review. Upon starting the main campaign, it doesn't show or tell you how to play so you go to back to the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ mobile game interface and go to the page nobody goes to when starting a game; about/options where all they give you is a chunk of text telling you how to play no demonstration or anything. In there, it says the game is not a mobile game for your grandma but that is LITERALLY what it is! On top of the stupid "story", the characters look 5 years old and even Nicole's witty remarks feel choppy and watered down. Everything about this game sucks. NOBODY WANTED THIS ♥♥♥♥, ♥♥♥♥ YOU SBN3!
Don't buy it unless you want to break your fingers from this puzzle ♥♥♥♥, meh it is average, buy it on sale, and you have to master the ♥♥♥♥ out, each level it becomes harder and harder, you gotta need to turn into some mega ultra puzzle pro chad
Its a bejeweled clone but for $20, thats insane. SBN3 has to be broke if he's charging this much for a glorified mobile game.
Followed the series from the start and hearing it was a puzzle game i was mildly curious, my only real gripe is there isn't a mandatory tutorial and you just figure it out or read the "How to Play" section and go from there but I have played for 6.5 hrs and I ENJOY THE ♥♥♥♥ outta this game. for 20 bucks it's kinda a steal if you're a puzzle fan or even someone who never knew they were a fan of puzzle games
Pros: The writing is incredible as always, I like the line clearing mode. Kelly's Story takes place in the line clearing mode, and it feels much more like the traditional VN version of the games, even if it is still just puzzles. The match 3 gameplay is not the bejeweled reskin we've been getting for the past decade or so, so at least it's kind of a breath of fresh air. It would have been better as a bejeweled clone though if I'm being honest. Cons: The gameplay during the main campaign is terrible. There are moments where it's not determined by player skill whether you'll win, you're entirely at the whims of RNG. On the hardest campaign I had over 50 continues used before I quit on chapter 10/11 because I was losing matches within 7 seconds because the AI would drop about 20+ line blocks on me in a row and the animations literally weren't fast enough to let me break them before the game would say I lost. Even when the game isn't doing this, you never get to play long enough to actually enjoy the gameplay because the rounds are over within 30-60 seconds. TLDR: I like the writing and gameplay, but I cannot recommend the game unless there's a balance pass because of how terrible the balance is of the game; you either win in 30 seconds or lose in 10 seconds, and there's no in between. Honestly you're better off just looking up all the interactions on Youtube.
im reallt upset since i was a firm enjoyer of the first 3 games, while i was really hyped up about this game hoping the puzzles werent going to be the only thing this game is centered on but it is. its no where NEAR as good as the first 3 games changing your keybinds is annoiyng, no tutorial, terribly designed puzzle (at least in my opinon) i dont know if that type of puzzle game is supposed to be played like this; you skip a row everytime you go up or down unless you get enough columns??. actual tears running down my face as i write this review they couldve done a lot better, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ opening cuz like wtf shady wizard makes a puzzle comp game and the brattiest girls alive actually go along with it?? i couldnt even finish the first puzzle cuz im dumb and bad at puzzles so i only saw like 2 cutscenes. i just wish they tried more but this seems like an exit scam. so all in all if you liked the first 3 games and youre a dumb ♥♥♥♥♥ like me who actually thouhgt this game would be good its not and i would rather spend my $20 on literally nothing on goodwill. ♥♥♥♥ the economy and this game, i wouldnt be suprised if everyone who played this refunded it in the first 20-30 minutes but even i couldnt last that long.
It's a good game, despite the creator considering the puzzle aspect lack-luster as well I found it fun. Up to you if you'd wanna spend $20 on it but should if you're a fan of the franchise. If you're playing for the main storyline then you might wanna save your $20.
So the fourth installment in the series is a complete departure from the visual novel format that made it popular in the first place. And oh, it sucks. The gameplay is basic, there's a minutes long exposition cutscene upon reopening the game that you can't skip, and the endings themselves are underwhelming. A welcome return to the universe for fans of the series, but really underwhelming and just mid.
