I'd still recommend it, but with caveats. I love the music, the art is all very good, and the story is more Colorgrave(Good). The gameplay, though, is frustrating for me. The normal speed feels a little slow (which is fine), while sprinting is horrendously fast and floaty, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I was constantly overshooting, barreling off edges, and bumping into enemies because of it. It's not a deal breaker, but just a heads up if you're impatient and have anger issues. The one hit nature and floaty sprint will get you.
This game takes me back to being snuggled on the couch, playing on my game boy color. The art and music are irresistably charming. The game isn't oppressively hard, which is something I appreciate. I had a fun time enjoying the banter between characters, and the challenge was tuned well to my (admittedly lack of) skill.
A wonderful little game, with all of Colorgrave's usual charm in the art and music department. It was fun to see the characters from Curse Crackers again, see where their story has gone since then. The gameplay is quite tight, though not as technical as Curse Crackers, and not nearly as long with only 15 levels and some extra challenges, but with plenty of dialouge and secrets to find!
Sakuraaaiiiiii...!!! Okay, I didn't expect the next Colorgrave game would be a love letter to Kirby and Smash Bros, with several deep cuts from other games. The formula here is spastic but very refined, with somehow more arcadey refinement than Curse Crackers had going for it. Overall, it feels great to play. The not-insubstantial lore expansions to the main Colorgrave continuity are also greatly appreciated here. I really dig the universe they've been spinning since Prodigal, and having that alongside the action is wonderful. I do strongly recommend playing Curse Crackers first (and if possible, Prodigal) to get the most out of this game, as the lore and setting directly follow from it. But otherwise: recommended.
Fantastic soundtrack and cute characters. Platforming is smooth and snappy. The games is kind of a sequel to their other games, especially curse crackers. So some part of the lore might be a bit confusing and hard to resonate with if you're new to the series. But I think fun can still be had if you're just vibing. And if you want to dive deep into the lore, just buy and play curse crackers and their other games as well. They're all good games. I've played all the major titles from colorgrave. I think they are an underrated hidden gem. The devs are apparently very talented. They just lack recognition.
its baller its sick its gas its peak
A crazy fast paced arcade platformer with a ton of unlockables and replayabliity!
Very fun game. It did not seem like a lot to write home about at the beginning. However, as it opened up it became very clear this is another Colorgrave masterpiece. Gameplay is great, story is great, music is fantastic. While the movement is more slippery than previous titles, leading to some frustrating situations with more skill-based jumps in the beginning. But once you get the hang of the movement it is great, with a lot of movement possibilities. All in all, great game.
As a follow up game to Curse Crackers this one continues to be a excellent 2D platformer that anyone should play The gameplay is still fast paced so even if you are lose a life there is no delay in respawn to continue immediately and the movement allows you to not lose much time from when you lost it Having multiple characters to replay levels levels gives it some value to check how to clear them that way or get missing collectables, that some dialogues changes depending of which characters of the main group you choose is also nice All in all, it was a very fun experience
Before the game's release, I was worried it would be just a bunch of cooking minigames, but it turned out to be a good story-driven sequel to Curse Crackers with a ton of playable characters. I suddenly loved the minimalist style.
