controls dont feel great, main issue is lack of any sense of momentum. it's like if sonic could only run when he's standing on running platforms. a lot of dead air, waiting on rails that are practically QTEs, etc. unable to tell which paths are "secrets" and which are the intended path majority of the time, and the level design is just generally unintuitive. art style is cute, but the filter hurts my eyes and turning it off makes the game look meh in my opinion
Lunistice is a very solid indie platformer with a great sense of style, very good music, mostly good level design and solid variety throughout its runtime. It's held back from being great by its obvious lack of enemy variety and the fact that 2/3 of them stand in place, but more importantly what distinguishes a great platformer from Lunistice, is the variety in movement tech (wall jumps, wall runs, backwards jumps and spins and all sorts of combinations that allow you to redeem yourself or move through the level more fluidly). The rail grinds are enjoyable and the two jump and a spin combo taken from Super Mario Galaxy are solid enough but it lacked more. There were definitely too many rough spots with the camera and slidey-ness during the few going up around a tower sections where the game turns almost 2D. My biggest complaint though, is how unclear the visual signaling was when it came to reading whether you should double or triple jump to a platform, the line was often so blurred it just came down to guesswork. Lunistice is definitely better than indie competitors like Torree, marking a huge step up in quality, but it just doesn't quite punch up far enough to be anything more than good. The package is solid enough with well done music, style and levels that the almost great platforming holds it back, but doesn't deter it from being an enjoyable enough experience to recommend. 7/10
Lunistice is a wonderful 3D platformer with a colourful retro art style and a fantastic soundtrack. The levels are consistently creative, and the movement feels incredibly fluid and satisfying. There are plenty of collectibles and optional challenges that add replay value to each level. Beating all of these levels also unlocks additional characters to play as, each with their own unique playstyle. I'm excited to jump back in and see how differently they handle. If you're a fan of classic 3D platformers, this is an easy recommendation.
Just a Great 3D Platformer Simple but fun Gameplay, great price, amazing Soundtrack and Artstyle I can totally say it was worth my time!
It's a charming little platformer bursting with personality, wonderful music, and satisfying fluid movement. Not very long. As of now only got a bit over three hours into it and beat the game while having collected all the collectables. Just started replaying with one of the two new characters. Short but great and worth it for platformer enthusiasts.
i am naturally very bad at platformers but i enjoy this game a lot for having simple enough controls/movement and really fun levels and visuals. i really really like how this game looks i missed a lot of the things needed for the true ending in my first playthrough but i hope to get better with practice and find that + maybe perfect this game if i can git gud enough. the difficulty for me doesnt take away how enjoyable it is
Got all achievements. The game's a bit daunting at first, but oh so satisfying once you learn the layout for each stage. I didn't find it hard to master at all, as the main barrier is learning each stage. Keep in mind that Hana's campaign is the most fleshed out, with the collab characters lacking the minor extras she has. They do each have a stage unique to them, however, with Toukie's being a massive pain due to how large it is. I found Toree to be quite fun, but Toukie was overall boring compared to Hana and Toree. I'm hoping the Accel Coda update will address this. Since we're getting more characters and stages (some of them original characters), it stands to reason that they would have the same extras as Hana does currently. I know it's minor, but every bit of content counts when the game is entirely built on replayability. All in all, a damn good time. You'll get quite a lot out of it for £5 if you enjoy precision platformers.
while this is a pretty short game (you can beat it and get the true ending in something like 2 hours) don't let that discourage you from picking this up. this game can stand among the 3d platformer greats. the simple mechanics of a double jump and a twirl attack might sound bare bones, but the level design makes perfect use of these tools to make each level feel unique. there is a remarkable amount of depth involved in making good time, and the game does not make it easy, especially in the later levels. getting s ranks requires exploring each level to the fullest and while some are simple offshoots with more difficult platforming, some are cleverly hidden to reward those that turn each level over looking for secrets. The sense of speed you can get while hopping through each zone can be quite exhilarating. The game wears its sonic inspiration on its sleeve, but definitely doesn't feel like a rip-off, as the game isn't quite as fast as sonic to make its tight precision platforming more feasible. All in all, this game is one of my favorites i've played this year. I look forward to seeing more from the dev.
