I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE MOMORI :MOMORI_RIDICULE:

Spoiler-Free Review after 100% achievement completion: There has not been a game that has swept me up and off my feet to impede my student life as strong and aggressively as this— to say that i'd thoroughly enjoyed my time in this game would be an understatement. Having bought this game on more or less a whim, i can say that it was one of the most fruitful experiences i've had the pleasure of enjoying. Top 5 games for sure. The Good —————— 1. Visuals → The artstyle was what immeadiatly caught my attention browsing through the store. Initially, i wasn't a fan of how the in-battle character ui and enemies looked when checking out the preview images but i grew to appreciate them and i wouldn't change a thing. Needless to say, the game is beautiful. 2. Gameplay → Easily my favouite roguelike and roguelike deckbuilding gameplay loop. It's reminiscient of Slay the Spire ofc, that much is almost a given, but this game's combat adds a good variety of unique mechanics that change really change the way you'd approach the combat. The game also feels extremely well balanced and i rarely feel like i'd lost soley due to a bad hand (though i consider that part of the appeal). After my first run i played exclusively on Expert Mode and can attest to it's difficulty. I'd never learned to do infinites in STS or anything game-breaking in other deckbuilders so i can't say for anybody properly good at deckbuilders, but i found Expert Mode to be demanding enough that my runs could feel threatened the whole way through. 3. Music → There are 2 tracks that live in my mind rent-free, both of which are accomanied by memories of getting wooped and ending my runs. 4. Story and Characters → I found both to be very compelling. The story has a ton of twists and turns that kept me hooked and i ended up liking all the characters by the end even if i disregarded them at first. The central ideas and themes are pretty clear all throughout and it feels like everything the writers wanted to say was there. Everything gets wrapped up well in the end and there are few loose ends if any. 5. Steam Workshop → This is a bonus thing going for the game but it's just so nice. I personally always had the EN Dub mod on. The "could be improved"—————— 1. Animation → Extremely minor but the animation is a bit lacking. Honestly we're probably lucky we've gotten any animation at all but now that we do have it, 2 frames does feel a bit lacking. Sometimes it works though, so again very minor. 2. Cut content → There was some pretty major content removed from the game in early access that i'd only found out about when trying to figure out the deal with a character called "Haru". TLDR she was a dropped plotline and so was an entire murder mystery esque scenario that predates the events of the game. 3.DLC → I love the DLC, whether it is worth it or not depends on you ofc but i was willing to support the devs for anything they released. However, what did deflate me a little was that the DLC story had no affect on the main story at all. It's to be expected but it'd gotten me feeling a tiny bit down. The DLC's extra gameplay content, skins, bosses and animations were all very nice and appreciated though so i realy all that sad. TLDR: Chrono Ark came out of left field, grabbed me by the neck and taught me to enjoy it. It's faults add to it's charm and what it does well it delivers it with so much soul you can't help but like it!
