It's not a roguelike deckbuilder, it's a jrpg cosplaying as one, with hours of VN reading between each run. It also inherits a lot of jrpg DNA that beter deckbuilders successfully moved away from, such as %accuracy and being able to easily heal up the party as much as you want (making the hallway fights a distraction rather than a battle of attrition). Despite that, it brings some genuinely good ideas to the cardplay and finding wombo combos between the (large) cast of characters is a lot of fun. It's best compared to Darkest Dungeon (without the attrition elements) for better or worse. The gameplay is good enough for the relatively small number of runs you need to complete the story, and the story is quite good if you like Black Mirror existential horror. One design choice is so insane that I'm going to explain it for no real reason: the first time you beat the final boss, you get railroaded into a bad ending, and have to do another run to get the good ending. The incredible part is that there's a single dialogue option to choose between them, and it starts you on the bad ending choice. Imagine that owl from Ocarina of Time but you lose multiple hours from clicking through wrong. Scarier than anything else in the game.
