This is actually good hidden object game, with decent story and good but skippable mini games. Could be longer tho, but well, it is still a good puzzle game somehow for entry level.
Chronicles of Magic: Divided Kingdoms is a captivating hidden object adventure developed by The House of Fables and published by Artifex Mundi, offering players an intricate blend of mystery, magic, and immersive storytelling. The game centers around Gillian, a devoted mother on a desperate quest to rescue her kidnapped son, Nevin, from the enigmatic Black Knight. As she navigates the contrasting realms of the White and Black Kingdoms, players are drawn into a world filled with hidden secrets, ancient powers, and moral ambiguity. The story unfolds gradually through beautifully illustrated scenes and character interactions, allowing players to piece together the narrative while becoming emotionally invested in Gillian’s journey. The gameplay in Divided Kingdoms focuses primarily on hidden object challenges, tasking players with locating items cleverly integrated into richly detailed environments. These scenes are often complemented by a variety of puzzles and mini-games that test logical thinking, memory, and observation. The puzzles range from arranging sequences to manipulating objects in creative ways, ensuring that each task feels fresh and rewarding. This combination of hidden object sequences and interactive puzzles not only reinforces the narrative but also maintains engagement throughout the game, encouraging players to explore every corner of its magical worlds. Visually, the game excels in establishing atmosphere and mood. The White Kingdom is bathed in soft, luminous colors, evoking a sense of serenity and hope, while the Black Kingdom contrasts sharply with dark, shadowy tones, creating a foreboding and mysterious environment. Each location is intricately designed, with subtle details that invite closer inspection, from the intricate patterns on palace floors to the textures of enchanted forests. Character designs are equally impressive, with expressive animations that convey emotion and personality, deepening the connection between the player and the narrative. This careful attention to visual storytelling makes exploration both engaging and aesthetically satisfying. The sound design complements the visual experience beautifully. The soundtrack is haunting and evocative, shifting in tone to match moments of tension, wonder, or introspection. Environmental audio, such as the whisper of wind through trees or distant echoes in shadowy corridors, enhances immersion, giving each scene a tangible presence. Without dialogue-heavy exposition, music and ambient sounds carry much of the emotional weight, guiding players through the story and emphasizing key narrative beats. While the game shines in many areas, there are minor drawbacks that may affect some players. Certain puzzles can feel repetitive or overly simple, which may reduce the challenge for more experienced adventure gamers. Additionally, the pacing occasionally slows in parts of the story, requiring patience to fully appreciate the unfolding events. Despite these small issues, the game’s strengths in storytelling, visual artistry, and immersive gameplay outweigh its weaknesses. Overall, Chronicles of Magic: Divided Kingdoms delivers a compelling and atmospheric adventure that blends emotional storytelling with thoughtfully designed puzzles and hidden object gameplay. Its richly rendered worlds, striking visual contrasts, and evocative audio create an experience that draws players deeply into its magical narrative. For fans of story-driven, exploration-heavy adventures, this game offers a memorable and engaging journey through realms of mystery, magic, and familial devotion. Rating: 8/10

Too short, no second chapter. 3.5 hours game time is not good enough.
What color is the sun?
Honestly one of the prettiest HOGs I've played in a while. Every location feels like it was pulled from a fairy tale illustration, the hand drawn art is just gorgeous. Hidden object scenes especially, I caught myself just looking around instead of actually searching. Runs about three hours on expert, never drags. Easy recommendation if you want something beautiful that doesn't eat up your whole evening. Special thanks to Artifex Mundi for keeping these timeless gems accessible.
It's...okay. I got it at a 90% discount during Christmas, and for that price it was fine, but I can't recommend spending more. I bought this because I really liked another game by this company (Grim Legends: Forsaken Bride) but this one wasn't as good as it imo. The story is really bad, and while I know people don't play hidden objects for the story, things happen that don't make logical sense within the story context OR using IRL logic, to the point it's just better to ignore everything entirely. The animated scenes aren't as nice as the other game either. As for the puzzles....they are okay, assuming you get this game at a discount. The huge downside is that the hidden object part doesn't change the objects you search for or shuffle the positions they are in, so it's really only 'good' once.
Introduction of Chronicles of Magic: Divided Kingdoms is worth of praise even if it played the brothers-leading-a-kingdom trope. Usually, on certain occasions, leading with this trope feels overused. However, on the entrance of the game, it reminded me of good and evil story plotlines. It is clear that this game had something it offer. This is a spectacle of its own. The concept of the scrolls is very intuitive for the storyline and necessary for the plot. It had an interesting small puzzle concept where small POVs appear to the players. It renders the game more unique. It had unexpected plot twists, yet I do have a love and hate relationship with this game. I am unsure why two of the quests did not trigger for me and I am in no energy to repeat the story as of the moment with a new profile so I will be leaving my achievement progress in a little over ~90% complete. PS. The child's drawings on the first scenes is very cute! I had a 2 and a half hour worth of run for base story with intentions of a 100% run eventually. I will try on a second profile next time. As for my rating, this is a recommend and will land on a decent 7.5/10 for lore, plot, playthrough, and everything in between.
