I bought this game years ago and find myself still coming back to replay it, so I thought I'd leave a review. The pirate aesthetic is portrayed really well, with fleshed out descriptions and really in-depth lore and storytelling. Characters have their own agendas, your choices matter and you get to decide where your character's loyalties lie. You can't explore everything the game has to offer in one playthrough, which gives you a lot of replayability. The game also allows you to lose without just getting a 'Game Over' screen - the consequences of failed encounters can sometimes continue to affect your journey many chapters later. Would recommend for anyone looking to play Captain for an immersive adventure on the high seas.

THE pirates choice game. Not that long, but everything you would want or need in a pirate game. Consitend Choices, many different endings, not much railroading, stats match the choices and no forced interaction with other characters, this game has none of the classic mistakes that can ruin a choice game. If you want to play a pirate, this is your game.

I really liked this one, choice of robots is still my favourite CYOA game but being a pirate is always fun. My only complaint is it seems too short and ends very abruptly. My time played is not accurate as i clicked away with the window open.

A very short and sweet adventure. I found the supporting cast compelling and fun, and the idea of building up your own little fleet was intriguing. Can't complain about the price; I got 6 hours of fun in just one playthrough. The only thing I found wanting in this game is the overall length and depth of content. I felt there was a real missed opportunity with this setting. The characters had interesting stuff going on, it just wasn't seen through. We get the idea of owning a fleet, but why not let us have a hand in managing it? Other COG games have proven it possible to have that kind of depth, it's just a shame we didn't get it here. I recommend it for a short bit of fun, but what you see on a first playthrough is about what you get overall.

I like this one and have done multiple playthroughs, but am going to keep doing more to see more of the endings. I do like the multiple choices of gender and sexuality in your character, including whether you even want to have any romance involved. There's references to actual historical pirates (I love the ghost of a legendary pirate queen who guides one of the ships you can choose, she's inspired by my girl Grace O'Malley!) and there's some piratical politics going on, not just between the pirates but also in navigating relations with "civilized", law-abiding (mostly) society on land, which I like because it's historically accurate. It does do away with the expectation of historical accuracy, though, because this world involves magic, ghosts, curses, and sea monsters...which is frankly the best way to do pirates, IMO! It is strictly text-based, so if you're looking for a visual novel experience, be aware that the scenes are all painted by your imagination. A solid, enjoyable entry into the Choice Of games, which I tend to enjoy overall.

A fun, well written romp. If you like the pirate aesthetic give it a go
