First played this almost ten years ago, and I replayed it recently and was amazed at how much I still remembered. It may have subconsciously influenced me because I became a programmer lol. I saw another review describe this as "choice-dense" and that's a great word; the story actually branches out a lot and you can see many different story lines whereas other choose-your-own-adventures stories fall into the trap of giving you choices but having the story still basically play out the same way. My favorite route is conquering Alaska lol.

a true RPG
Many horrid futures and logical inconsistencies in text. But still decent
I don't typically play CYOA games, but once upon a time, I stumbled on the web version of this game. This game is surprisingly deep for what is essentially comparable to a choose-your-own-adventure book. It has a lot to say about the future of mechanics and artificial intelligence and how humanity chooses to interact with it. The writing is pretty smart in that regard, and the writing also respects the player's choices very well as things you choose to say or do in early chapters will come back with heightened significance in later chapters. The only criticisms I have for this game is that, for all it's replay value, it's rather short. A single playthrough should not take a fast reader any more than 2 hours. You are encouraged to replay constantly, both for achievements and just to see every premutation of every branching path, but it still will get old fast with constant replays. But you can do worse for 7 dollars as of writing.
Choice of Robots is probably the best work in the Choice of Games collection. It is well-written, imaginative, and fun (though perhaps less novel/futuristic now than when it was first released). Plus, the plot actually branches in interesting ways. While out of scope for a Choice of Games work, I imagine the game would be improved with music and imagery (e.g., as in The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante). 4.5/5 (Between Great and Masterpiece)
An interactive fiction game that has stayed with me for years. It has fundamentally changed the way I think about personhood and introduced me to so many new ideas. It's beautifully written, extremely smart, and has brought life to that which is often viewed as lifeless. I cannot recommend this game enough.
A very strong text adventure. Your choices genuinely matter and build up into multiple branching paths. I cannot recommend it strongly enough, I consider it to be the strongest game CoG has put out. Give it a shot.
