[i]Chimp Quest: Spirit Isle[/i] is a time management game developed and published by Boomzap Inc. You take on the role of a troop of monkeys, sailing on a ship and getting stranded on a mysterious island. The monkeys decide to make this island their new home, but first, they'll have to get acquainted with the resident monkeys and other creatures as well as appease the island's spirits. Can these adorable monkeys succeed with their quest?
With the gameplay, it consists of 37 levels, and in each level, you're given a number of tasks to complete, ranging from rescuing civilians to activating statues. To assist you with these tasks, you can construct buildings that produce resources, such as wood and food. Only timed mode is available, so you'll have to complete all of the tasks quickly in order to earn the maximum of 3 stars per level.

Some lovely CGs as well as a varied soundtrack are present. Also, Steam achievements are available, but they won't count towards a user's global total until the game is out of "profile features limited".

It definitely has been quite a long while since I last played a time management game, so I'm glad that I finally got around to this game. ^^ Although Boomzap is more well-known for its HOGs (which I will get around to someday :o), this is its first TM.
I enjoyed the story premise. It's not every day that you have a game which stars a group of monkeys searching for a home. It's great to read this heartwarming story about them banding together to make a new home for themselves while befriending the current residents. The story truly embodies the theme of working together and being in harmony with one another. Of course, there are obstacles, such as the island's spirits feeling disturbed by the monkeys' presence. However, resident shamans are present, and they can explain how to appease the spirits. Other problems are present, too, but with the power of teamwork, the monkeys can get through anything.
Of course, the heart of this game is the gameplay. The levels played very smoothly for me, and I never ran into any game-breaking bugs or whatnot. Although I have no issue with this, there is only timed mode, so you'll have to deal with a timed meter if you want to earn the maximum number of stars. This may be a problem for those who want a more relaxed experience. However, I was able to earn all of the Steam achievements. I should note, though, that there is a minor bug with the achievement for completing all levels with 3 stars each. Even if you do so on one playthrough (which I did), Steam may indicate that you're missing 3 stars. However, replaying an earlier level will get this achievement to pop up.
As for the art, it has this cute, cartoony style that is in many time management games. The sprites and backgrounds are drawn and colored well. Especially, I thought that the monkey sprites looked cute. There are even a few CGs present to progress the story, and they're exceptionally well done.

With the music, there's a fair variety of tracks, and they give off this theme that you're really in the jungle. It makes sense, given the game's setting and all. The tracks are a great accompaniment as you're progressing through the levels.

Would I recommend [i]Chimp Quest: Spirit Isle[/i]? If you're a fan of time management games, you like cute animals and adventure, and/or you want to get those Steam achievements, it's worth checking out. At the asking price, I feel like it might be a bit pricey for those who are veterans of time management games. Thus, you might want to wait for a half price sale, but the game is a lot of fun. ^^
