Child of the Wind is a unique VR game where your hands in-game are fans you'll use to push / navigate a ship through dangerous worlds. Avoid islands, sink wholes and pirates by pushing your ship our of danger or crashing enemies into islands. The game is pretty difficult for VR unless you have really long arms.. which I don't. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXiTBw1XQBM
Child of the wind is surprisingly good. The gameplay is pretty original, you have 2 fans and you need to guide a boat to safety and collect floating crates all while dodging dangerous things (pirate boats, tyhphoons, rocks, etc...) by pushing it with wind. You can also push the ennemys boats, the floating crates and use youre fans to open mill powered gates. The game is really well done, I just think It could have more levels but I can't complain, I bought it on sale for 3$ which is a fair price. 8$ is a bit pricy considering how short the game is, I reccomend to get it on sale.
Thank you Freetale for developing this awesome game! I love the paintings on the wall and the concept of controlling wind is nice.
I don't get the point of that game. I mean it feels like a phone game. Or maybe it is just a student project game where they learn how to code in VR ?
Was a very interesting game and a good use of tracked controllers but as of 2025, no longer launches. SteamVR updates seem to have relegated some legacy VR titles to the scrap heap including this one.
I like the concept (hence why I bought it), but the experience wasn't positive. The game is unplayable on my computer (probably it's not well optimised). The lower half of the screen had black (semi transparant) artifacts and the game lagged. The lagging combined with the game being unforgiving for any mistake, makes it impossible to enjoy and sail far. If your computer is beefier (GTX 1070, but no problem with almost all other VR titles), it might be worth trying. (was doubting if a negative review would be fair, but all the others being only positive didn't seem correct either, as the review of FastLawyer clarifies)
