This is a really fun game, nice throwback to Link's Awakening and other awesome GB games. I really liked the basic puzzle mechanics, it's very easy to figure things out on your own (still challenging at times!). The GB style frames and color palettes are a nice touch. Maybe the only criticism I could make is that the character moves a bit slow through the screen. You will probably not notice this until the moment you notice you forgot the acorn in another screen of the dungeon. Still, just a very minor problem in an otherwise really fun experience.
Un plataformas muy bonito y simpático, recuerda a los antiguos juegos de Game Boy. Dura muy poco y para mi eso es bueno ya que no te aburres de el. Por ponerle alguna pega, la hitbox me parece mala y a veces injusta.
good game water level sucks if not playing with controller
Pretty good / 10. Lots of charming environments and good boss concepts. Gameplay is well-balanced and the puzzles are good for this genre. Maneuvering the walnut is a bit jank but fine once you get used to it.
It's better than a cure for cancer
chico's got every ounce of the gameboy color charm you'd hope for from the trailer/screenshots, but with more modern puzzle design sensibilities and reward systems. be sure to stick around for the post-game bonus levels, which have an extremely satisfying big-puzzle-made-of-smaller-puzzles structure that i wish i could play 15 more hours of!
As someone who did not grow up with the Gameboy, I was surprised that I still somehow got nostalgic feelings for it from this game. Maybe it's the chiptune track (which has some bangers btw) or the awesome pixel art (which I always like in any game), but this game just hits all the boxes for me. It's very Link's Awakening, and it's pretty short, which for my ADHD brain makes it better than that game for instant gratification. Overall, good game, absolutely recommend.
I love this game!! The creator has truly mastered what makes a Gameboy game feel like a Gameboy game. The soundtracks are awesome, the pixel art is beautifully done and the wide range of physics/mechanics in each level makes this a game that just keeps giving and keeps you wanting to explore. Excited for more expansions to come out and I'm enjoying playing the creator's other games in the mean time! If you haven't played this yet, you're seriously missing out!!
Chico has fun music, interesting mechanics, and I would recommend it for anyone who is a fan of puzzles and challenges of skills. If you like retro-style gameboy era puzzle games, this will be right up your alley. Despite the fact that this type of game is not my usual cup of tea, I found myself trying "just one more time" on level sections that would normally cause me to put a game down (looking at you, cloud puzzles...)
This is a really delightful and challenging game which I've just beaten and enjoyed immensely. There's some tough platforming - which I found was a bit easier with a controller! - but the highlights are the novel mechanics introduced in each area, which are fun to get to grips with and keep the gameplay fresh. This is an absolute steal for the price tag. Give us more Chico!
