2 Minute Review → https://youtu.be/eSMDD6BCHnA Chicks and Tricks is an asymmetrical local multiplayer game. A steady stream of 100 chicks is flying out of the coop. The VR player is a farmer trying to save the chicks, but the PC player is a hungry fox named Tricks trying to eat the chicks. Tricks moves very fast, but fortunately the farmer can hit Tricks the the net to send her out of the field or put her to sleep. My wife and I had a lot of fun playing this. It’s instantly playable and a great time. It requires of roomscale of 2m x 1.5m. And it’s priced perfectly at $5.
Great game for the family! First game the wife was able to play without getting sick. We have chickens so this game really took off with the kids.
Very cute VR vs PC play, a lot of fun/laughs can be had. Currently only one game mode, repetitive but fun. The game needs some polish but the devs are listening and adding things regularly from what I've seen. Need some one local on your PC as well as in VR.
Very fun simple VR game for two. Dont expect long gameplay but its great for some quick fun. Priced well.
Played 6 games total with my husband. We both played 3 games each as fox and farmer. Out of our 6 games the farmer only won once. This game is heavily imbalanced towards the fox. The farmer's net physics are wonky, which makes it hard to reliably get chickens into his pen. In contrast, the fox can very easily run into a chicken to eat it. While the farmer can hit the fox to stun it, the stun doesn't last that long. The game is also easier for the fox because the fox can see the whole arena, while the farmer only sees what's in front of him. I think more audio cues for the farmer could help here. In the one game the farmer won, he spammed the net behind him to keep the fox at bay/stunned, which required a lot of exertion/effort to do. I also measured my play space and had the minimum 2m x 1.5m play area, yet I was still banging into walls/furniture around me as I tried to reach things just outside of my playarea. I think this game has potential to be awesome, but the mechanics and physics of the farmer and fox need to be revisited.
Maniacal, boisterous laughs the whole time from our 5 year old. Great fun for the family, groups, parties. Gameplay feels pretty one sided though. Being the farmer is quite difficult. Even I (a gamer of 25+ years) was beaten by my 10 year old when I was the farmer. Also our 4 year old (fox) who has barely played any controller games beat our 10 year old (VR farmer). It’s possible we had extra difficulty / glitches due to streaming from our PC to the Oculus Quest, but… it seemed like the chickens were just difficult to catch in general. It kind of added to the fun but perhaps the devs can make some adjustments to even the odds a little. Either way it’s still worth the very reasonable price for a few laughs here and there. Maybe some additional game modes would have give it longer life and playtime too.
I've really enjoyed this game when we had a party. It causes quite some chaos and laughs in such an atmosphere! It's a simple game and requires multiplayer. I've yet to encounter any issues whatsoever. There's no option menu, but that honestly doesn't really matter for a game like this, with this price.
This game is AMAZINGLY FUN! It lacks the depth you might crave, but at 5.69 CAD reg priced, this is well worth it. If you have VR and friends, you must buy this!
+ Fun but short "Couch Co-op" Vr game. + Local multiplayer, Might work with steams online "couch co-op" +/- Price for content - Only one game mode 2.5/5 This Would Be Neutral If There Were An Option To Do So. I'd like to give this the benefit of the doubt. It's a fun little, extremely short 2 person game about getting chickens into a square before the fox player gets them into it's belly. It's cute, but repetitive and with only one game mode I can't really recommend it, since there are many other 2 player co-op games that offer more for VR. It's fun, it's silly, but for it's content I can't really recommend it.
