About
Never play the same game of chess again! ChessCraft is a chess AI sandbox. Create your own chess boards, rules, and pieces. Play against the computer or your friends online, or win loot by playing one of 80 built-in chess boards in adventure mode. ChessCraft is also the world's largest chess variant database.
Many chess games already exist, but only ChessCraft allows the player to create such wacky boards, pieces, and rules and immediately play a decent computer opponent.
Create new pieces with any combination of the 8 bishop or rook slides, plus a 7x7 grid of knight-like hops. Create new boards with any enabled or disabled tile up to 16x16. Place promotion rules for any piece, anywhere, or other special tile rules. Create pieces that cannot be captured, or with ranged attacks, or pieces that restrict other pieces from acting. The computer opponent then uses concepts from computer science and graph theory to understand your creations and play against you.

A very fun and creative tool for people (such as me) who want to play chess by their own rules. Endless possibilities for making different piece and boards with a wide range of different move sets and rules which are easy to use and understand, along with being able to test it out with a computer opponent and not limiting it to two players. Only complaint is that the AI opponent tends to "stop working" at random points when i first start a game. Other than that if you're a chess nerd, love fairy chess variants, or just somebody who looks to innovate the game in some sort of way, i highly recommend it.
Don't buy this game. It can completely break on you, especially if you ever use computer vs. computer mode. The game will try to reopen the previous game if it closes while a game is in progress. If a piece that captures at range and attacks a different way than it moves tries to move, the game may crash. The combination of the two results in an endless loop of crashes if it's an AI moving that piece, since it will do that repeatedly and crash your game. Not even uninstalling and reinstalling the game will get rid of its attempt at mitigating the damage from crashing instead causing an endless loop of crashes. The only way to escape this loop is to luck out, have the game let you to the main menu without crashing shortly after, then go edit the piece so it doesn't satisfy the conditions.

Please try it, you can create your own chess pieces and boards, and garbs too recently, this is the best chess internet game....
The game is stellar! There is so much you can do and with the recent 1.16.17, that "so much" became literally infinite! There are only a few things i would add, although these would be very hard (maybe idk im not a programmer). 1. More goals. Not make the only goal to checkmate. Add King of the Hill. Where you need to keep pieces in at least 1/3 or 1/2 of the selected locations. Tag, capture the opponents designated "Tagger" piece, this wont capture them but tag them. Stay not it for a set amount time and you would win. 2. More piece customization. Make it so you can add more slide moves, not just the cardinal and orthogonal slides. And expand the piece move and attack editor to 25x25, allowing for pieces that can move across the entire board. This would allow for even more customization and superiority over the (much worse but has amazing aspects) Protochess.org If I saw these added, it would be amazing! More customization and more unique pieces. I've been playing more chess variants and this stands above the rest in customization. Thanks for reading! Sincerely -BigBlu32
fun chess game
really fun game, altough i dont know why custom garbs look kinda blurred
The adventure mode should be updated to showcase all of the new piece mechanics.
Very good i have had a good time playing it
fun
I lost my phone, so I found this on steam. Although I can't restore my profile, so it's going to be a long time before I can restore everything again if I remember. There should be a larger board with custom sliding moves or try and add infinite movements of the manticore and griffin are able to do in ouroboros king.
