This was a pretty rough game, but I think someone really cared about the topics this game tried to tackle—however, there were too many topics. This is a game that is playable, enjoyable, and can be a great time depending on the person. It was a good time for me... for about the first two to three hours. (SPOILERS AHEAD!!!) This game is a BL visual novel with a steampunk aesthetic. It's not of the steampunk genre, it is purely aesthetic. The plot deals with space travel, planet terraforming and colonialization, extraterrestrial life, genocide, quid pro quo sexual harassment, immigration, veteran affairs, and probably more but I skipped a lot towards the end. These are not topics typically associated with the steampunk subgenre. This game could've easily been sci-fi and nothing about the plot would change. As I was playing, I wondered if the creators were inspired heavily by Voltron: Legendary Defender, but painted their game over with a streampunk brush to avoid copyright infringement. (Biel might as well be Keith's twin, and Alaya? Altea? I mean, come on.) This is also apparently a world that alternated from ours. For example, they have God, Christmas, World War II, Coca-Cola, Nintendo, Konami. But suddenly having this steampunk aesthetic in their present doesn't really feel fitting. Usually, steampunk is associated with the Victorian era or the Wild West era, so it's just really jarring to suddenly hear about Mario and Kirby out of nowhere. The characters were fine, but could've used more. I only played Biel's route. It was kind of hard to gauge why the characters make the certain decisions that they did. For example, Tirs kept saying Biel was "cold and distant," but we didn't get to see very many examples of that. On the contrary, I interpreted Biel's character as introverted and socially anxious, but Tirs wasn't getting that and that made me very frustrated with him. In terms of story, I felt that characters were also an issue. There were too many, way too many for a three-romancable-option visual novel. They ate up so much of the time that could've been used developing the protagonist and the three love interests. The three on the research team, Quim, Zoe, and Ren, were nice, but didn't influence the main plotline that much. The four on Marc's "heist" team, Roy, Nur, Akira, and Bru, were, in my opinion, unnecessary. The outcomes of the first two missions are wholly dependent on Tirs's actions. (Plus, the missions were, frankly, kind of lame. They need to change a shipping label, but break in without knowing what computer it's on? They need to hack into a computer, but unless you're a deep-lore gamer of real-life games that exist in OUR universe, i.e. Nintendo and Konami, then you likely couldn't have figured out the password without a guide. What the heck??) I ended up skipping all scenes that didn't have Biel in it. Speaking of plot, it peeves the ♥♥♥♥ out of me that I HAVE to accept Marc's offer of casual sex in order to avoid the bad ending that has Tirs framed for their crimes. That's straight-up quid pro quo sexual harassment (and I have no idea if they actually address this in the story cuz I skipped all the non-Biel parts lol) and yet, Marc is one of the love interest options. (Do they actually address this? I'm a completionist, so maybe I'll come back to this review after I see his ending.) (EDIT: I completed Marc's ending and I have to say I'm disappointed, so much so that I had to change to "not recommended." Hey, guys! Marc might've abused his power as an authority figure to solicit sex from his students and will frame Tirs for his crimes if you choose to refuse his advances, but don't worry, he's a good guy because he doesn't wanna commit alien genocide! I guess they're trying to make Marc and morally gray character who does the wrong things for the right reasons, but they don't address his terrible actions, they excuse it with "he's a good guy because he doesn't wanna commit alien genocide" and reward his bad behavior with a happy, romance good ending with Tirs. Tirs is a good guy, he doesn't need to be hooked in with sex and blackmail in order to make sure he doesn't go through with the alien genocide. It would've made more sense for Marc to hook in a higher authority figure with blackmail to prevent the space launch since there is an oft-mentioned group that is against Marc and don't care about what happens to the aliens. Sure, Marc does get arrested and convicted in other endings, but I personally didn't think that was enough. He's STILL a romanceable option anyway. It would be more appropriate if he were straight-up just the villain. I guess they wanted to mix up the twinky cast with a more "daddy" option, but... not the teacher, please?) The art was fine. I love the art of the four main characters. However, everything else looked to have been drawn by different artists of different skills, which is fine, but it didn't feel consistent. Almost all the other characters had a different style than the main characters. The backgrounds didn't sell the steampunk genre either, not even the aesthetic, with some being very modern-looking with a gear or an airship in the background, or with others being straight-up textured photographs. (One background straight-up looks like an airport bathroom.) Also, I wish the main characters had more expressions. They all seemed to have only three: regular, mad, and blushing. Not enough to convey their different tones of conversation. Last thing, real quick, is that the explicit scenes were pretty hot. However, the art, well, it's just a matter of opinion that I wasn't super fond of it. It was hot, but it's in a specific kind of style that's just not my cup of tea. (Also, there were some perspective and anatomy stuff that really drew me out of it.) Anyway, I give this game a solid 3 out of 5. It's playable, it's enjoyable, and it's gay. This is my first review (hell yeah) and II wanna see what this studio puts out next~! It's all learning and growth~! Dejando a parte que tienes que tener relaciones con tu jefe, la historia del juego es interesante
I won't lie, this game is a little rough around the edges- lots of grammatical errors, the voice acting isn't amazing, and the simple fact that you have to
have sex with your teacher-boss
in order to get a good ending should have put me off. And yet, here I am. So clearly they've done something right. I love the aesthetic, though they could have pushed it a little harder. While I may not love the teacher-student relationships, I do love the drama of
the main character realizing he's been manipulated into joining a terrorist cell by his lover, and finding a way to take it down from the inside.
I loved hating the antagonist, and seeing his betrayal coming a mile away, and shouting at the main character to run away. I liked the non-Marc endings.
(Even if I considered Marc a viable option, his ending ends way too abruptly with barely any additional scenes to set it apart from the generic friendship end.)
Biel and Pol, though they live very comfortably inside the tropes they inhabit, were pretty good characters. Also, they weren't manipulative teacher-bosses, which makes both of them better than Marc by default. The porn was okay. Not great, just okay. I appreciated the option to skip it. Overall, playing this game felt like watching late-night reality television- a guilty pleasure. Don't play this game expecting to be wowed by the complex characters or mind-blowing sex scenes. Play this game because once the drama starts rolling, you can't look away.
I was actually very disappointed in this one >< I didn't see enough interactions with any of the love interests to make me go "Hey, yea that makes sense why they'd get together." It was just reading a book with hints of things and stuff that makes you think maybe you're missing something. Felt like I was playing a demo. Sorry... couldn't even finish it ><
蒸汽朋克/BL/黄油,和A Hand in the Darkness(唉,这个游戏被ban了,难受)是同个制作组出品的,依旧是冲着立绘画风入手。
Went through the game to get all the endings / achievements and here are my thoughts. Pros: - Lots of plot. This isn't just a "pick a guy and screw him" kind of game. You have to navigate a lot of plot to romance your man. - CGs looked great! - Top / Bottom choices for the sex scenes! - Availability of threesome scenes Cons: - The plot can get boring when it comes to the "missions". I feel like the only important one was the one with the guard incident. The rest, we didn't have to physically see the mission happen, maybe Tirs could've just said a few lines about it before going to bed instead. - Sporadic voice acting. The scenes where these were implemented were hard to predict and ended up surprising me when characters suddenly started talking. Maybe it would've been better to just voice heavy moments or have no voices at all. - The cut-in art of the characters vary wildly while they are talking. The main characters look fine (Tirs + Love Interests), but then everyone else seems to be done in a different style? Or they're just meant to not look good? Kinda jarring. - The forced relationship with Marc in order to move along the plot. Other romances only open up after you sleep with Marc. If you don't sleep with him, you are doomed to get a bad ending. Doesn't help that he's a manipulative guy with no redeeming qualities. At any rate, I liked 2/3 love interests, so I rated this positively. I have great love for Biel (and Pol, but more Biel than Pol), and enjoyed the way the relationship with them developed. :)
The premise is interesting the space theme gives the game a flash air to the genre, it turned out different from what I was expecting at the beginning like an adventure, but it´s still a good story to keep reading like an investigation, the puzzles add a more immersive experience. The soundtrack is amazing and voice acting is great I enjoyed so much listen to all the chasing the stars´ characters and music, the game art has bothered me a little mostly the sprites that if we compare with the CGs look kind of unfinished. The narrative has a good pacing,
after the first playthrough it´s kinda repetitive cause all the routes lead to almost the same main story conclusion, but
every route give us a different glimpse on the main story and his characters so it is still worth it replaying to explore all the game possibilities.
8/10 (This game contains TW for the following: Sexual Content, Manipulation/Persuasion) This game honestly surprised me with how in depth and rich the story was. A lot of times with these types of BL or Dating Sim games, they prioritize romance or sex and completely leave world building and plot in the dust, but not this one! With that said, here is my list of pros and cons: Pros +Attractive art style (and men ;-)) +The MC is fleshed out enough to feel real, but not too specific to be unrelatable +The world building is perfect, just enough that it keeps us curious, but not lost Cons -The pacing is a bit off, the romance portion comes a bit all at once and feels rushed -The romance/ endings are very restrictive. You have to choose all of the right options to get good endings. (It's one of those that you just end up looking up all the right choices when you get frustrated.) -EVERYTHING matters. While this makes the plot move fast and it's interesting, there is no time to breathe. No silly moments that don't matter. Idk about anyone else but it stresses me out when every single choice has to be the RIGHT one. Overall, I think if you like the art style and want to be taken on an interesting ride with some good plot twists, then this is the game for you. It can actually get pretty heartwarming as well as heartbreaking at times.
Super cute, though it does have some really dark undertones (like killing someone). Loved the sprites except for one of them that is not only out of place but it's pretty ugly to boot. Luckily it's not one of the main chars, so it doesn't ruin the whole game. Backgrounds are nice, CGs are nice. Fully uncensored (if you want it to be, it's a choice). 3 romantic interests, all versatile. You can choose top or bottom in their best routes, except for two scenes. One of them you can't avoid if you want any of the best endings (you're bottom there) and the other is a threesome scene.
I am unsure what I was expecting but I got a more intense story than I thought. The aesthetic is steampunky but it doesn't really come into play much. The characters are interesting, enjoyable, and I liked them. The romantic interests are flawed but believable. One of them was a tad hard to get through, but that's mainly because teacher-student relations don't do it for me. Pol is a sweet baby and must be protected. I liked it. It was a good story with some good smut.
