I found it very much XCom in Space. I had 4 70% hits in a row miss. Where as the enemy routinely landed every hit they fired. But I liked the vibe, so why not, ehh?
This game has just the right amount of stuff going on for me to have a good time. The larger scale strategy stuff isn't all that involved. You have a few things you need to manage to get your resources, there are some technology that you can research and there's also a very simple diplomacy layer. Other reviews have mentioned that enemy AI during the fleet battles is 'cheating' in that exactly knows where you are, however this also means that it's fairly predictable, and thus exploitable. It also helps that you can re-start battles, in case they go wrong. However, you cannot save during a battle, and every now and then, you're in situation where things just aren't working and everything just takes a long time. At least if you're like me and don't like loosing half your fleet in three turns, just because you made slight mistake. Also the game itself kind of unravels towards the end, as you get more and more resources and at some point there isn't really all that much to do, but spin the clock, until that last faction is finally okay with you just taking their planets. So yeah, Chaos Galaxy is a bit of a rough one, but I still have a good time with it, because it is just simple enough to keep my brain going, each fleet admiral has a nice character bio that gives them a specific context for the larger setting, and sometimes all you want is a space opera game where you can be part in a weird imperial succession struggle.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I really wanted to like this, but there were a few problems I couldn't get past. the biggest of which is that during tactical combat reinforcements would show up and act immedietely. ships would just spawn in from the edge of the map, and instantly wreck your whole day. It made the game feel unplayable to me, and took what was otherwise a pretty fun (and very unforgiving) tactical combat, and made it feel unplayable

Good Game
I bought this game after having played Chaos Sector, a game I highly recommend, and while i did enjoy it to an extent, the game simply has too many flaws for me to recommend it to anyone. Firstly the UI is one of the worst I have ever experienced in 20+ years of gaming. Secondly, the Alien threat which was a huge driving force in the first game is completely absent in this game, this is despite certain characters having abilities which are stated to effect alien units. Third, the AI cheats, now I don't mind the AI getting hidden economy and recruitment bonuses, as it is a common practice in games due to the limitations of AI, it helps prevent the player from steamrolling over the AI after defeating there initial forces, but when the AI completely ignores Fog of War and knows exactly where your stealthed units are I start to question the wisdom of implementing mechanics that only serve to punish the player. Fourth, Balancing is woeful, the difference between the best and the worst Admirals is so huge that a player could defeat four of the latter at the same time using the former and achieve a perfect victory. I have not played enough of the factions to comment on there overall balancing, but i do not imagine that it is any better. Fifth, Character progression, characters base stats (War, Admin) increase upon level up depending on their specialty, that is fine enough, upon level up they can choose one skill to obtain to enhance their abilities in some way, unfortunately the skills are picked from a set of three which are randomly chosen from all possible skills, essentialy making each level up a gamble as to whether or not they will get a useful improvement, a gamble with poor odds as atleast 2/3 of those skills are useless or borderline useless at best. As such a level up more often then not is accompanied by a feeling of disappointment. Six, can no longer capture enemy units, this was one of the cooler mechanics from the previous game. There are other things that bother me about this game, but the one's already mentioned are the biggest offenders.
