About

Winner of Best Indie Game at the 2024 New York Game Awards and nominated multiple times at other ceremonies including The Game Awards and the BAFTA, Chants of Sennaar is a critically-acclaimed puzzle and adventure game developed by Rundisc.
Divided since the dawn of time, the Peoples of the Tower no longer speak to each other, isolated by fear or mistrust. It is said that one day, a Traveler will find the wisdom to break down the walls and restore the balance. Travel the endless steps of a prodigious labyrinth, uncover the truth and unveil the mysteries of this fascinating universe where ancient languages are both the lock and the key.

Inspired by the myth of Babel, discover an enigmatic and vast tower. As the Traveler, delve into a world full of mysteries, where Peoples have grown distant, unable to communicate with each other anymore. Begin your adventure in a prodigious tower inhabited by five distinct Peoples, observe, listen, and strive to mend the bonds of distrust.

With a smart gameplay system, explore and solve various puzzles to uncover the mysteries of five different interconnected languages. Always guided by your trusty notebook, note each symbol, keep track of your surroundings, engage in conversations with people and unravel the meaning of every glyph. Each step will pave your way to the top of the Tower as each word will restore the link between People.

Dive into an enthralling and colorful world full of secrets. Tumble headlong into a beautiful world inspired by impactful European comics authors where every floor of the Tower possesses its own visual identity, supported by distinctive technological levels, architecture and culture. Embark on a poetic and enchanting journey driven by a soul-stirring, lyrical soundtrack, made by Thomas Brunet.

No words to describe this game about words. A masterpiece of art
当年学英语的时候,就总是很好奇最开始的时候两门语言是怎么连接的,这个游戏给出了解答。 解密和故事的设计都很不错,非常值得一试。
good.
I wish I could play this game for the first time again. I keep using it as an example of how to do a secret language mechanic right in discussions. The story is told through a lot of environmental storytelling and, while the stealth parts can be frustrating, most mechanics support it. I really enjoyed figuring out words and symbols based on context clues, cognates, and some written translations. Having the chance to write down my guesses, then see if they were correct or refine them further, was really neat.
I downloaded this game at 11pm, stopped to sleep at 4:30AM, and played it to completion when I woke up. I don't think its a masterpiece, but its very good. The satisfaction of being able to figure out what people are actually saying is hard to find elsewhere. During my playthrough, a certain group had a very dim view of a word, lets say "boat" that I genuinely transcribed the word to mean "dumbass" and was wondering why these people were so hostile! Turns out they did have a word for dumbass; it was just a different, unrelated word. The game is very good at giving you information in fun ways. Early on, I had plenty of nouns rattling around in my notepad when a stranger offered a game that had me pick a random card out of four before they'd do the same and whoever got the better card won. Thing is; these four cards connected to four of my nouns. Chants of Sennaar used this random strangers game to establish a hierarchy between these four nouns using this rock-paper-gun game! And this information was then tested and proven useful later! Brilliant! Basically you should play this if something like Return of the Obra Dinn or Outer Wilds is in your top ten best games.
夯爆了,神作
Unique puzzle solving game with the use of language. Mechanics are fun to play with and the game design is minimalist striking for every area. Highly recommended for others to try especially since this game is also worth its price.
I liked! Very nice puzzles! A few head scratchers, bard language is so difficult...
好玩
很有趣,诗人篇有点烦躁,挺好玩的
