Awful Alien ripoff. Also fairly sure it installs malware onto your computer.
A failled first person shooter, and can be seen very quickly. Sometimes crashes in hard way. Graphics are poor and dark, places and decorations are very dull, most by the abuse of black and grey plane textures, sunking the wish for exploring. The mechanics is classic of genre, but was horribly implemented: guns are too big in screen, and its aiming not working fine, umpardonable in this kind of game. No hand weapons. Foes are excesively fast, and some are designed in too simple way. Pickable items, like ammo, are too small. But the worst are key bindings errors, that may unplayable since begining. There are better options, indies, recent or made many years ago. An example of product that must be retired from selling. Is not recommend at any price.
https://youtu.be/_6DLTNyxMDY Enemy AI is limited at best only able to offer resistance after getting into blind spots immediately adjacent to players. Gunplay feels loose and unresponsive offering little enjoyment to players.
I am the curator for 4X Dads, a gaming group of grown men with jobs and families that like PC games, particularly of the 4X variety. I do dabble in shooters from time to time, especially Sci-Fi shooters and Space sims. This game isn't my typical goto genre, but the kind developer offered me a copy to try out and review. So I want to thank him for trusting me to review his game, even knowing the review possibly would not be favorable. It was certainly a solid effort, a stable game showcasing one's dedication to his craft. What's inside? Think System Shock meets Aliens, but more of the bad Aliens game where the xenomorphs had horrible AI and the hitboxes didn't mesh up properly. Oh, and the story is cliche and isn't immersive. So why the thumbs down? Well, I think the dev did a good job using a well known game engine combined with putting hard work and detication out on the line for all to see, but the game feels more like a tech demo than anything else, and at the time of this writing, it's being sold for $9.99 a copy. I certainly don't want to detract from the man's effort, but a business man must account for the competition in the market, along with the target audience's willingness to thrown down on an indie developer vs a big fish like Bethesda. Back in the day, folks would make make tech demos or free games to showcase skill, or just as a hobby. That's what this game felt like to me. An uncompleted hobby with potential, but requires one to buy a copy to see what's inside. Everything from questionable AI to glitched out 3d animations just screamed programmer needs a team of artists and AI scripters to help make this title shine. Being that I am a grown man with a limited amount of free time, I just can't invest the kind of time and patience required to really see what all this game has to offer when I find myself battling not just pesky aliens, but the game's short comings itself. I'd rather just load up a solid space shooter or go grab a beer and an Xbox controller with a buddy and shoot up some bugs via a Halo session. The game does have other game modes, but I was turned off by the piss poor weapon action against the bugs. The speedy roach things seem to ignore my bullets and teleport into my space suit, and I can't hit anything after that, even if I run to get away from the thing that warped around my hitbox. This game just needs more shine, and that means money. So we have here the conundrum most developers found themselves in the past, out of money and in posession of an incomplete title. History says, the project gets abandoned, never to see the light of day again, but on Steam, that trend seems to have been bucked, and the customer is left holding the bag. Not necessarily this title, who knows, the dev may well improve it over the coming years and make me eat my words. So there’s a wait and see factor with this title, I think. I am mostly critical on the story. This is a system shock style shooter, so I was expecting a cool story to at least to reel me in and keep me interested besides the harsh gameplay, glitchy enemies, and wonky AI. You start as a scout pilot sent out to do a 3 day recon of a new system. Upon returning to your mothership, you find blood everywhere and an AI instructing you to report to the bridge
when nobody is even alive on the bridge. In fact, the crew was ordered to abandon ship, but the AI is defying protocol when you have a perfectly working ship and keeps you running around a hostile alien infested vessel, for reasons.
The game touts free playability, like exploring any part of the ship even when you are poorly equipped for said area, but I found myself questionning my objectives, considering,
the surviving crew is screwed, the Marines and master at arms failed to halt the infestation, and I am a star fighter pilot with a working star fighter...It's like an engineer trying to paint, or an artist trying to hold a real job. I mean, come on, know your role! Scout pilot gets in the ship and leaves, game over.
The game had good atmosphere. Definitely nailed the bloody / creepy / dark space ship. A few moments were cool, like the sound of a horde of "uh-oh" coming your way. However, what followed was usually annoyance, not heart pumping action. The roach things get stuck, and warp up and down on boxes and stuff. Not sure how you do that in Unreal Engine 4? If the dev spends a couple of more years on this game and polishes it up a bit, I am open to try it again and alter the review if there is improvement. Definitely needs coop and multiplayer. Fix the bug AI, and the hit boxes of all the guns. Helmet light is a must, but suit power would be a cool management feature, like finding batteries or charging stations to recharge your lights and laser packs. Also, a static bug count, perhaps the ability to clear the infestation as opposed to running around
murdering your crew. The AI is obviously evil. As soon as the AI had me try to kill the engineer sabotaging the warp drive, I knew the AI was compromised, trying to get the ship into human space to contaminate Earth. I was being told to murder people that wanted to stop the ship from spreading the infection to Earth after the captain ordered abandon ship. It’s obvious. Star pilot get in star fighter, and start blasting infected mother ship until it’s disabled, vented, and unable to return to human space. Then maybe die. The End.
LIked it. Yes some frustration in combat and puzzle. Havent played it in a while. Pros - Atmosphere, Non-Linear, Random Plots. No regret to purchase. This is my type of game. Stress Relief
I downloaded this game not sure what to expect. having only 1 dev and not a team, and not having the big budgets that most of these games have. Truthly, I was pleasently surprized. I've played only an hour so far and the first 15 was getting a feel for the game. I started to enjoy playing the game. I like the open world aspect. the graphic are well done. If you are like me and like exploration with random enemies and the "oh I know there are 2 enemies around the corner" then you will like this. the game does have it qwerks. such as the aiming takes getting used to. if you are used to auto aiming and not getting a feel of how a new gun may fire, then you may have issues with the aiming, some of the guns are a little big. last the objectives could be clearer or a map provided. overall this game is well done for not having a team of developers, and for the price you will have fun.
Well what can i say?.... For a mere 5 pounds atm in sale... Its superb fun and one o the scariest games iv played... Now ul know how Ripley felt walking down those corridors... lol And adding even more too the fear factor the flashlight only , to no light is rather terrifying all on its own... Some v good graphics also makes this a great wee shooter a bit like aliens and dead space and so much more... Hf all and GL"!... :D
Pretty much trash. The dev doesn't wanna keep fixing because he got his money, but he's sad cuz the kickstarter didn't double his money.
Horrible game, in fact, is this even a game? Theres no discernable objective.
