I created Caves of Lore because of my deep love for RPGs. This project took me 6 years to make and I learned a lot about coding, art, and storytelling. If you reach the end then be sure to let me know! Caves has deep combat, classic-styled pixel art, and (of course) LORE! 📖

Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.14/day in the week to Sep 14 → 0.25/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
New Game Plus Mode
Caves of Lore is now updated with New Game Plus Mode, giving you more ways to continue, rebuild, and replay after completing the game.
After finishing the game, you can restart with bonuses from your last game or continue the game without restarting. New Game Plus lets you carry forward permanent stat increases, some memorized abilities and spells, previously unlocked traits, and equipped necklaces and rings.
You may choose to reuse your stats or re-roll them for a fresh approach while keeping permanent gains.
This update also adds new equipment options. Necklaces now have Resonance, which increases damage when worn with other items made from similar materials. Enchantments can now be destroyed, giving you more control over your gear and builds.
MY JOURNEY MAKING THIS GAME
I'm a self-taught solo-dev who built this passion project over 6 years while holding down a full time job and raising a family. I dedicated myself to work 5 minutes a day no matter what, and built the game piece by piece, not really knowing where I was going or how it would all end.

Vast amounts of loot and treasure constantly increase your power, while dialogue, books and lore are waiting for those who want to be drawn into the world further.

A very solid RPG that nails exploration. From the very beginning, the world is filled with interesting things to discover. It's also cool to revisit areas later to find even more secrets. The story, characters, lore, and unique world are all interesting and well written. I found myself far more engaged with this game than was with many AAA titles I've played recently. This game is a true masterpiece, especially considering it's the work of a single person, and I can't wait for the continuation of this story and especially world. There are some questions which are left unanswered in the end) Are there problems? Sure. While monster diversity is really good, around the middle of the game, the encounter rate feels a bit too high and becomes tiresome. On the other hand my party was already well-prepared and could wipe out monsters quickly, and also in x2 animation speed. But all in all - I spent hours of playing, dropped any other game and it was so refreshing and fun actually to play something with soul. Great job and thank you)
Simply amazing game. I've been playing RPG for over 30 years and this is one of the best games I've played in the genre. The storyline, combat mechanics and fun I've had from a game created by one person is simply phenomenal. I can't wait to see more games from this designer. I look forward to the sequel and I hope some big franchise picks up your talent and gives you the freedom and resources to create more traditional RPGs.

game is good. it is kind of old school, not only because of its graphics. there are some issues though: - kind of buggy. from time to time glitches software exceptions or other glitches happen. - at some point of time you can get sick and really tired of meaningless fights. sure, you can try to avoid them... but still. - light spell needs to be renewed after map change, teleport, fight and frequently after rest too. and you will rest a lot. this is so **** tiresome. - quest progression status is often really meaningless. almost like author despite this all love for RPGs is teasing us. despite all of that game is fun, and delivers.
This game is scratching a gaming itch I've had for a while. Interesting world with fun combat and an engaging magic system.
Very nice RPG, some mechanics are a little sketchy, but very enjoyable.
Straightforward old school CRPG. Don't be fooled by the retro graphics, it has a fair level of depth.
Horrible interface, strange controls. It's not intuitive at all
Great CRPG. The combat is fun and there's a fair amount of build variations (some magic is a bit overtuned though, I haven't fully maxed magic missile and I still have to avoid using it to not oneshot enemies) but the game really excels in exploration. Not only are there tons of secrets, hidden mechanics, and lore to discover, you're actively rewarded for engaging with them. New spells, new enchantments and weapon sets, learning how to unlock secret rooms via learning rune meanings, learning how to use the lunar cycle to your advantage, new abilities, etc. can all be obtained from experimenting against enemies, solving puzzles, or reading lore books. Insanely fun gameplay loop because every aspect feeds back into the others. There are flaws. It starts slow, and while I felt extremely powerful by midgame I remember the early game being a bit of a struggle. The characters are surface-level interesting but it's not very character driven so you don't really get to know/care about them. There's a lot of party members and a couple of them either feel weak or redundant to me (and so many of them feel like they're built to be casters, but A) you don't need that many, B) there's an entire enemy type highly resistant to magic, and C) having lots of casters is a bit tedious with the way learning magic works). Journal is a little too vague, I took a massive break when playing this game (multiple months) and am writing this review after coming back. It's been a big struggle to remember locations/plot points/quest hints because of how vague the journal is. Difficulty is lopsided, it's almost too easy now but was tough starting out (haven't finished the game so it may increase again). Inventory management is a big mess, especially when trying to enchant/upgrade equipment. But even given those flaws it's still a very good RPG. Highly recommend.
