Catherine Classic

I came from Hashino’s Persona and Metaphor so it’s given I’ll eventually have to play Catherine in one way or another. But unlike those, this isn’t even a JRPG so this is basically new territory for me, and it’s faster than I thought. A block climbing puzzle, it’s relatively new for someone who isn’t used to them as this game can have unevenly paced difficulty and has less straightforward paths. It forces you to be content with any type of what blocks are given to you at any level since you strategize around them, sometimes with other stray sheep too. They’re all in some form of escapism that not all will wake up from, and unsurprisingly, any language but English already has a wide vocabulary for this. Adult struggles are way deeper from high schoolers not simply because they’re older, but because decisions have more stakes than it should have. Take cheating which ruins trust either way but on different levels. At this point, it shouldn’t be shocking Vincent is desperate and indecisive: a mysterious meter will make you lean towards either the namesake Catherine or the legit Katherine (I know Full Body added a Qatherine but she’s a spoiler herself). Even his player, yours truly, can’t really decide without thinking about how would other players answer or how it’ll turn his karma upside down. It’s really a test of your beliefs each time you enter the confessional, and it pressures you quickly afterward because someone you talk every night wants you to. The nightmare never ends, apparently. Looks like I’ll be playing this again a dozen more times.

overall great game play , love the story. finally getting the chance to finish this game. it came out when i was in middle school and ofc your parents see this anime girl on the cover lol. I love this game with a a passion
