Catfish Idle Pond

Cool as a cat idle game for your desktop.

Fun little idle game that sits in the corner of your screen. Takes about 5 days to 100% all achievements (at time of review). It's very lightweight in terms of performance hit, about 1 to 2% cpu usage and ~250MB ram. There's minor nitpicks that I can make about progression scaling (or the lack thereof) as you catch more fish and fill out your fish log, but that's just tweaking numbers in a formula somewhere. The game has a very solid base with no crashing and no gamebreaking bugs. Solid cohesive theme and identity, with chill music + sound effects. It's definitely worth a couple of dollars.

[Updated Review: 02/23/2026] If playing this to have a cure little desktop buddy with nice ambience and unlockable content, then I fully recommend this game. If playing for the dopamine hit and neuron activation of seeing number go up, then my previous update might be relevant, BUT dev is working on an update with multiple improvements which will likely address most of my gripes. I will be deleting my save and starting again once that happens :) [Updated Review: 02/02/2026] Ok, I have reached over 100hrs on Catfish Idle Pond. I do still think it's neat, and I plan on 100% it, however I think I might have to change my review to not recommended. This is primarily due to what feels like a bug with the different fish sets. Currently the cheapest fish in my "Standard" fish set is worth $480 and the most expensive is worth $55,740. Nice, right? Well the cheapest fish in my Mechanical and Celestial sets are worth $21 and $26 respectively and the most expensive are $1480 and $1514 respectively. This honestly felt pretty bad because I assumed that the new sets would actually be worth more than the original set. Honestly, even if all sets were worth similar amounts, that would be fine, but the fact that the newer fish are worth so much less than the original means that every time I unlock a new fish, I'm actually slowing down my progress by increasing my chances of catching a low value fish. Every time I see I unlocked something, I pray it was a cosmetic and not a fish. This makes progression feel like a real slog and not very enjoyable after you begin unlocking the cooler looking fish. The good thing is that you can just let the cat fish and not do much, but you can really only afford a good upgrade like once or twice a day. Also, I don't get the spawn rate stat. Apparently it affects how much fish respawn, and fish are supposed to respawn every 5 sec, but from the looks of it, the fish only respawn once there are no fish left and the cat walks over and fiddles with something or other. This doesn't affect my review at all though, it was just a little confusing. I'll be happy to update my review if the price bug is fixed or if I'm told it's not actually a bug. Fun idle game :)

Super cute...gorgeous graphics...many options...a musthave !!! Max rating...very curious how this can be expanded with new options and additional skins and objects...A little gem... Thanx for producing it !
