Catacombs: The Asper Case

It's very atmospheric and it definitely is spooky. However, the reason I'm only giving a neutral recommendation is because the whole thing is only about 7 minutes long. I would say that's on the very steep side for what you're getting. So this is a fully scripted, almost totally cinematic experience. There are a few basic VR interactions consisting of selecting from the UI menu and also pressing down on the tape recorder buttons. You really only have one scene (two if you count the intro). You listen to the voice-overs and enjoy the 3D scene where some spooky sounds & stuff happens. Game is running on the Unreal Engine. On my RTX 3080, I was getting steady 90 fps. I did not experience any issues at all. This is a seated, stationary experience where everything happens 180 in front of you (at least when I looked behind me I didn't catch anything). It's available in English and French. Overall, I enjoyed it, but it's definitely not for everyone. This is really only for VR connoisseurs who are okay with paying a premium price. In my humble opinion, this would have been better priced at .99 or $1.99 USD. [b]Rate 5/10. I don't mind paying a premium price for well-made VR content. Short 7-8 min experience where you are sent to investigate some weird reports in the catacombs. You basically are there to see and listen to whats happening as interaction is minimal. I found the story engaging enough and while not horryfing its pretty spooly and the environment is very well done that helps in the creepyness Recommended to anyone wanting a short spooky story thats good for 1 maybe 2 runs.

Attention, arnaque ! Une arnaque qui ne réside pas tant dans ce que ce produit est - car il a le droit d'être ce qu'il est - que dans la façon dont il est vendu. Sur la page Steam, on nous dit en effet que l'on est "chargé d'enquêter sur des phénomènes étranges, voire menaçants, se déroulant dans les tunnels des catacombes de Paris" ; on nous promet une "enquête paranormale troublante". Cool ! En lisant ça, on se frotte les mains et on s'imagine une petite virée souterraine bien flippante de deux, trois heures maxi, le jeu pesant un peu moins de deux gigas. Sauf que le jeu ne dure pas trois heures, mais trois minutes. Ce n'est même pas un jeu, d'ailleurs. C'est une "expérience". C'est même écrit dans le générique de fin. Et cette expérience nous plante dans un endroit des catacombes, face à une pierre tombale, avec comme seule interaction autorisée le fait d'appuyer sur les touches d'un magnétophone qui se trouve sur le sol. Voilà. C'était la grande enquête troublante. Merci, vous pouvez vous casser. Une supercherie, donc. Encore une fois, je ne montre pas du doigt l'expérience en elle-même, mais la façon dont on trompe éhontément le joueur sur la marchandise.

Un jeu qui fera pas plus de 10 minutes, et encore si on prend le temps d'appuyer sur un bouton... Désolé mais je n'ai, jusqu'à présent, pas testé un jeu aussi rapide que celui-ci.

Short spooky VR experience with only one almost static scene, that is not optimized for AMD GPUs. Environments look very nice, but there is almost nothing happening: it might as well be a 3D photo. I am usually ok with short experiences, but they have to use their time effectively. This is just 7 minutes of sitting in catacombs, listening to a voice-over. And the whole thing gets progressively more jittery on AMD's 6800 XT, which is ridiculous for a dark small scene. There are no graphical or any other settings. Works on Reverb G2

J'aurais aimé pouvoir poser nos propres questions en tout cas, en choisir parmi certaines, les bruits sont assez stressants. fan de jeux d'horreurs, un long jeu serait bien apprécié surtout dans ce genre c'est très intéressant en tout cas très peu cher, et j'espère avoir un autre jeu de ce genre à l'avenir.
