“CAT Interstellar” is a short adventure game in 3D, where you assume control of a robotic unit named “DOG”, deployed on the surface of Mars to assist with its terraforming and with a dangerous mission into the planet’s depths. For a small independent project like this, the game feels quite impressive and packs some interesting content in the best hard-sci-fi spirit, like high-tech but decaying planetary base, fully sentient androids that will make a comment or two as you pass them by, Mars surface that looks nothing like we’re used to see it, and an ancient mystery to discover. The game is mainly about exploration of limited areas, with few interactions in the form of tasks that you perform for your fellow androids (who act very much human-like); graphics use somewhat limited set of models (it’s on a barren planet after all) but still look pretty cool, music is only a few tracks now and then but nevertheless adds to the atmosphere and helps to make the game an engaging experience. Overall this is a very good game, which I can fully recommend if you like robots, Mars and other sci-fi stuff.
I'm not really sure if CAT Interstellar is an asset flip. Some elements of this game certainly make it seem like the developer put some effort into assembling some kind of original here. On the other hand, a lot of the game assets don't seem like they were created by the developer, but they haven't credited any asset creators for supplying assets, which might be a case of plagiarism. There's no evidence, so we need to give the benefit of the doubt... regardless, asset flip or not, the quality here is indistinguishable from many asset flip/cash grab scams, and that's a problem in itself. So, it's unclear how much of this is stolen assets... how much of it is a game? Not much! CAT Interstellar is more of a disastrously badly made walking sim... and get this, yeah, the "developer" couldn't even come up with their own story idea and ripped off Heinlein. Considering how much of this seems ripped off other people, we have to wonder if the developer did any work at all here. But wow, the price tag.... Anyway, importantly, this is short, and bad. It looks promising. The only guarantee here is that you'll have a bad time. There's little interaction, there's little story. The developer already re-hashed this and is trying to sell it twice, and it's not even what you could call a complete game. The more I look at this the more it seems like a scam. And the developers only other game of note is... a backrooms asset-flip-looking trainwreck... seems sus. Stealing other people's ideas... and presumably a backrooms asset pack? (Yeah it's so popular the asset stores have complete packs for making backrooms jumpscare games)... this deal is getting worse all the time. From my experience with the game, it's somewhat bug riddled and has design/implementation/stability problems that will render this unplayable for many gamers. The game controls essentially didn't work, maybe 10% of the time the "w" forwards key would actually propel me forward, other times I just had to crawl slowly to the left or right to move... this is a bug riddled train wreck. Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this only happened once, around the same time that trading cards were applied to the game... so this is just card idlers getting their cards and moving on. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 120,000+ games on Steam? CAT Interstellar has the laughable price of $10 USD, for which you could easily get any number of older AAA games. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend. For comparison, the $10 asking price for this game could get you real, completed, and ethically made games like "Prey", "The Elder Scrolls Online" or "Pillars of Eternity II". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this.
CAT Interstellar

Positives:
+ Good graphics + Nice sounds and music + The atmosphere + Nicely designed levels + You play a level as a cat + Exploration is possible + Easter eggs and secrets + Ok voiceacting + Achievements (also extends gameplay)
Negatives:
- No FOV adjuster in menu - The console key is not working out of the box - Slow walking speed of the android - The cat is hard to control (as in real life) - Its very short (over in about 1-1.5 hour)
Conclusion:
This is an okay little walking simulator with minor objectives. Its got good graphics and nice design, but dont expect too much. Its very short and there is not a lot to do. But for what it is and does, its allright.
Total Score: 6.5/10
How to fix the console key and FOV: 1. Console Key: Go to the configuration files location. Open "Input.ini". Add the following to the file and save it: [/Script/Engine.InputSettings] ConsoleKey=F1 2. FOV: Open the console with F1 and type FOV # for custom values (f.ex. FOV 120)
recommend! the settings are amazing and so is the graphics! overall a great and easy-to-understand game :] (the fact that it's story-based is also a plus - favorite place: Greenhouse)
I played as a CAT
💋
cool little story game
Муж — жене: — А вот что ты будешь делать, если увидишь, как я целуюсь с другой женщиной? — Ну что… как верная жена, навещать тебя буду… в травматологии…
GODDD
Finally played through this game and boy was it a slog to get through. Terrible performance even at minimum graphical settings on Linux. Beware. The story was short and the gameplay was clunky. Can't wait for CAT Interstellar 2!
