About

Casting Whispers is a first-person psychological horror game where sound is your greatest tool. Investigate the paranormal events that plague a city in 1960s America. Shut your eyes. Trust your senses. Listen to the darkness.
1961. Corburgh, Connecticut, USA. An old industrial city plagued by urban legends, the sins of its past, and unexplained phenomena. For Victoria, a lab assistant working in the field of psychic and mental psychology known as Extra-Sensory Perception (ESP), Corburgh was always home. A place to study and learn.
But tonight, something is very wrong with her trusted mentor, Professor Henry Zubringer. Something lies in wait at his apartment building. Something that has sat hidden in the heart of Corburgh for a very long time. Enter the shadows within 1195 Norman Ave., investigate what happened there, and try to save your friend... and yourself.
What was that noise? Press and hold ‘Listen’ to shut your eyes, calm your mind, and focus your hearing. The Listening feature can be used to eavesdrop on secret conversations behind doors, find hidden mechanisms, and hear that which cannot be seen. Use it to make new discoveries, piece together the full mystery, and survive the entity that stalks you.
Casting Whispers features a single-player linear narrative across 6–8 hours of gameplay, set in claustrophobic environments steeped in Americana and Lovecraftian influence. You can unlock multiple endings depending on chance or your own choices, some of which aren’t entirely obvious. How many will you dare to find?
“Casting Whispers is a proud indie project, created by a solo developer and fully voiced by union talent. I could not have made Casting Whispers without the help of those who gave advice and collaborated with me. It has been a joy to make. Thank you!” — Lantern Bay

First-Person Psychological Horror: Casting Whispers is developed by solo indie developer Lantern Bay. Drawing from his experience working on game audio for League of Legends, Westworld Awakening, Horizon Zero Dawn, and more, Casting Whispers utilizes sound and hearing to create a uniquely atmospheric, immersive horror experience.
Corburgh, 1961: Set in an American city plagued by the sins of its past, its environmental and narrative designs are inspired by Americana and Lovecraftian tales. What secrets lie in the shadows of this old industrial city?
Investigate Paranormal Phenomena: A malevolent entity stalks the darkness at 1195 Norman Ave. Make discoveries, piece together the full mystery of Professor Henry’s disappearance, and survive that which hunts you.
Listen For The Truth, Listen For Survival: Shut your eyes, calm your mind, and listen to the darkness. The Listening feature can be used to eavesdrop on secret conversations behind doors, find hidden mechanisms, and hear that which cannot be seen.
Multiple Endings: This single-player linear narrative unfolds across 6–8 hours of gameplay, with multiple endings that can be unlocked depending on chance or your own choices. How many endings will you dare to find?
Sounds of Terror: Music by Ed Lima, violin solos by Kim Levin, full voice acting by union talent, and original sound design by Lantern Bay combine to deliver a terrifying soundscape that will keep players on the edge of their seats. The soundtrack takes inspiration from film noir, Bernard Herman, and 1960s cinema, and was recorded with era-appropriate equipment while incorporating more modern synthetic elements during more surreal moments for intense immersion.

Very enjoyable game with some minor performance issues, like glitches and bugs. Story was enjoyable, atmosphere was fantastic, and the playtrhough kept me on my toes all the time with a suspense of "what's gonna happen next" Perfect psychological horror-mostly walking sim with a focus on the story. 9/10, Would finish it in one sitting again :-) (It rhymes, I know) :)
The game does a really good job at building suspense. It's scary because or the tension and atmosphere that it builds, and does it without resorting to jump scares
Super enjoyable experience! The story had me intrigued till the end. Great voice acting and visuals; and really cool horror mechanics and design decisions on this one. If you enjoy horror vibes with less jump-scares and more well designed ambiance give this game a try, I was really glad I played it <3 TY dev for putting out some good ass horror out there I appreciate you. Looking forward to more projects from you.
I’m not one to write reviews, but this game struck me in an odd way. The theme is great, the vibe is there, and it hits all the elements I love in horror. But the execution is seriously lacking. Being locked on a pure white screen for minutes at a time, unable to interact, only to “die” or fail, is not fun (even after following the advice in the discussion page). Finding objects that suddenly can’t be interacted with...right after you just interacted with them is not fun (e.g., trying to enter a code on a lock). Having the game’s key mechanic function as little more than a “next step” button (at best) is not fun. I spent most of my time, before refunding the game, trying to find ways to get past the bugs. What began as genuine excitement quickly turned into frustration and anger. I didn’t feel horror or intrigue; I felt irritation as I kept trying to find the magic combination of actions that would simply let me progress past the latest bug. This game could use a lot more QA. Until then, it will remain a disappointment. Not because of what it is, but because of what it could have been.
Had a great time playing this on stream. I loved the overall atmosphere of the game and how spooky it felt.
I have nothing but great things to say about this game!! This one took me for a RIDE and even made me cry from the sheer suspense of creepy stuff happening lmao. One of the best psych horrors I've ever played!! Barely any jump scares but the game itself is CREEPY. The storyline and lore were phenomenal, the characters and voice acting were great, I loved how unique the "listening" feature was, and the graphics were pretty good too. Overall amazing game, especially for a solo dev!! I will say though that this game was CHALLENGING. A lot of walking back and forth and a lot of puzzles. I got stuck a LOT, not realizing that all I had to do was... listen. Give this game a try!! If you're stuck in the game and need help, or want to see each of the 3 endings, you can find them on my Youtube channel: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLovbrDGM4QXH2GRw4PTwFMkIWUdsvMigO&si=uGY8CQz2P3DkK5qr
Really enjoyable horror game. Interesting story, and it has the sense of dread you want.
A very fun horror game with an interesting mechanic. One playthrough is not enough to see it all, which is a big plus in my book. The voice acting is excellent, the story is compelling, and it uses established video game horror tropes well. I wish there were more phones available to save your game, especially after some of the longer sequences, but that is my only real complaint. An excellent game at an extremely reasonable price!
Really neat game, the mechanics are pretty solid and its a great way to explore a horror world and interacts well with the story. It's not overly jumpscare reliant either, there's a lot of really cool spooky things that are easy to miss, which is what I love in a good horror game. It relies on tension and imagination rather than monster chases and jumpscares all of the time.
Underrated game set in the 60's, so no modern nonsense. A great escape, with a well built, yet confined world to explore. Whilst I've played plenty of creepy games before, I loved the unique listening mechanic. Eavesdropping, or listening for clues. One of the few games I'd recommend playing with headphones. The game looks wonderful and you can peek through the windows and see an entire city has been painstakingly designed just for immersion's sake. It did however make my pc struggle a bit and had to nuke my graphics settings more than I would do with most of my other games. You can complete it in about 3 hours, but if you like exploring as I did, it'll take twice that time. A fair few little side quests and an alternate couple of endings, you're probably looking at 9 hours or so for full completion. A creepy and intriguing story that's well worth your time
