Carnaval Simulator is a creative sandbox simulation developed and published by JBA Software Development that centers entirely on one vibrant concept: designing, managing, and showcasing elaborate carnival parade floats. Rather than focusing on traditional business management or city-building systems, the game carves out a niche space in the simulation genre by immersing players in the spectacle and craftsmanship behind large-scale festival parades. Inspired by real-world carnival traditions known for their theatrical floats, bold colors, and communal celebration, the game transforms what is typically a background element of festivals into the main interactive experience. At its core, Carnaval Simulator revolves around a surprisingly detailed float-building editor. Players are given a broad selection of props, decorative elements, lighting options, and animated components that can be resized, rotated, recolored, and layered with precision. This system encourages experimentation and creativity, allowing players to construct floats ranging from realistic festival-inspired displays to wildly imaginative creations that push beyond tradition. The interface aims to balance accessibility with depth, offering enough customization to create visually complex designs without overwhelming players with overly technical tools. Once construction is complete, the focus shifts from design to presentation. Unlike static building simulators where creations remain confined to an editor, Carnaval Simulator allows players to bring their floats to life in parade environments. Driving the float through festive streets gives immediate feedback on scale, movement, and visual cohesion. Lighting effects, animations, and decorative elements interact dynamically as the float moves, reinforcing the sense that design choices directly affect the spectacle. This transition from workshop to live performance adds a gratifying payoff to the creative process. Progression systems add structure for players who prefer guided objectives. Completing events and participating in parade scenarios rewards experience points and unlocks additional decorative assets and effects. This incremental unlock system encourages continued engagement, gradually expanding creative possibilities. For players who prefer total freedom, a sandbox mode removes financial limitations and unlock restrictions, enabling unrestricted experimentation from the outset. The presence of both structured progression and open-ended creation ensures the game caters to different play styles. Multiplayer integration introduces a competitive and social dimension. Players can join online sessions where multiple participants design floats simultaneously and then parade them together. Community voting or competitive scoring mechanisms allow designs to be evaluated, adding friendly rivalry to the creative environment. This feature extends replay value beyond solo construction, transforming float design into a shared performance experience where presentation and originality are highlighted. Visually, Carnaval Simulator emphasizes colorful environments and festive aesthetics. Streets are lined with decorations, crowds, and celebratory elements that reinforce the carnival theme. While the graphical fidelity remains modest compared to high-budget simulation titles, the vibrant art direction and animated elements convey the joyful spirit of a parade effectively. Music and ambient sound effects complement the visual presentation, enhancing immersion without overpowering the creative focus. However, the game’s niche focus may limit its broader appeal. Players seeking complex economic systems, deep strategic layers, or intricate management mechanics may find the gameplay loop somewhat narrow. The primary emphasis remains on float design and visual presentation, and while progression systems provide some long-term goals, the experience is fundamentally centered around creativity rather than challenge or simulation realism. As a result, long-term engagement often depends on a player’s personal interest in design experimentation or multiplayer interaction. Ultimately, Carnaval Simulator stands out for its originality within the simulation genre. By dedicating itself entirely to the art of parade float creation and presentation, it offers a playful and imaginative sandbox experience rarely explored in gaming. It succeeds most strongly as a creative platform where players can experiment with color, motion, and spectacle, then bring their designs to life in celebratory procession. For those drawn to artistic construction and festival-themed creativity, it delivers a distinctive and joyful experience that embraces celebration as its central mechanic. Rating: 7/10

Fun game about building floats! It is still quite in it's early state as there's only one map available, but I already a lot of fun trying out different floats with my friends. Game looks a bit goofy at daytime, but at night (especially when also adding light shows), the game manages to simulate the amazing shows of the parade of Zwammegat (Standdaarbuiten) very well. Really looking forward to future updates from the dev as I think this game has quite some potential!
