I got this on a discounted sale price of $2 and for that price I would definitely say this game is worth playing. With one important note. The biggest strike against this game is that it doesn't respect your time. Gold that is used for spells and summons goes up by 2-4 per stage and as the game gets more difficult, this never increases. Orbs needed to summon more creatures are exceedingly rare though I was lucky to get some boots that made summoning take one less orb. Finally to get to the last stage you have to grind 60 keys and that was finally when I called it. 17 hours for $2 is a good value but the terrible high grind shows a lack of respect for the player, so only buy on sale.
Very nice game! The progression may seem unbalanced, but you can handle it with a proper build.
Cardaclysm is probably the first card game (besides yu-gi-oh) that I ever played. It’s not a genre I’m a huge fan of. And with some negative reviews I was really skeptical to try, even with the cheap price. But since I had nothing to lose but a few bucks and an hour or so, I gave it a try. And now I’m at Tier 4, with a deck full of cool cards, making some hard decisions to win matches. Totally addicted. As I said, I don’t play these kind of games very often, because they seem boring and “slow”. Card games revolve around one mechanic, that is “planning ahead”. You have to calculate your moves (yes, math), to see if one monster will die, how much damage it can do, which buffs gonna take away the enemies health, how many turns until the next effect and so on… Some RNG elements apply, of course, but the formula is the same. Cardaclysm goes the same way, but introduces a map where you can run to collect Golden runes and artifacts, random placement of enemies, and some equipment that can aid you on your journey. Judging by what other people say it seems like the game is bad and not worth it, but if you know how to play and give it some time, you can have hours of fun. One complaint I see is that the game is too hard. And yes it is true. BUT…only at the beginning. That is a crucial error because that is where 90% of people usually quit. I’m gonna explain why the game seems unfair and why you should play a little bit more before you quit. You have 2 currencies which you use to summon your monsters in the game: Golden Runes and Soul Orbs. Golden Runes are easily obtained, and you can find something like 6 to 10 each stage, and they add +2 to your maximum amount each time. Soul Orbs are rare and limited per Tier, and I think you can get like 3 or 4 each tier, and you need to defeat the boss of current tier to advance to the next. Monsters use both to be summoned, as an example let’s say a monster use 20 Golden Runes and 2 Soul Orbs. You will always have more Golden Runes, because monster use more of them, right. And you can even recover some using some cards and effects during battles. But Soul Orbs are practically impossible, what makes your strategies limited during fights. I had some hard times when I started the game too, but 3 cards changed my mind and I think they are essential to anyone: - Master Assassin – Recover 20 Golden Runes each time he attacks. Great to recover Golden runes so you can summon more monsters. - Stone Knight – Armored, life can only be reduced by 1 each time. This will be your tank, even with 4 health only, being able to get that amount of hits can save you and your monsters many times. And it’s a cheap card anyway. - Great Webweaver – Can paralyze up to 4 times. Sadly it dies in 2 hits, but for the strongest enemies and bosses, you HAVE to use. I beat 2 bosses by “accident” because of this card, since I was not ready and was not planning on doing so but did anyway. If you play long enough to get these cards, which you can do on Tier 2, the game becomes way better. And from that point you can experiment and find your own style. Like using the Steel Walkers boots, which reduces the number of Soul Orbs to summon monsters by 1. Game changer. And as a final thought, I wanna say I love the graphics and the music. Especially the music that is BEAUTIFUL, and gives some nice nature/elven vibes.
Play Time: 64hrs Achievements: 39 of 39 Date/Version: May 10th 2026 Rating: 5.5 out of 10 Cardaclysm - a card battler deck builder that must have been SO different prior to me playing it. First I would like to say I completely understand the mix reviews. Honestly it was hard to tell what this game was originally designed to be. It feels like the designers had an idea, had to adjust on the fly, then just release a game. You can see the elements of several other card games, but all of which is either half baked or just out of place. You have this “pub” that you'll go to between traveling between fights, running from some enemy bosses (until you believe your ready to fight them). Well this “Pub” is just annoying, every time you walk past an NPC who's active you automatically talk to the individual. Whom not only wastes your time like this review, but in addition may cause you to accidentally spend your points, or exchange items for cards that you never had an intention to give away. You have the capability of increasing the difficulty... for what... because by the time you grasp the game you really don't want to play at a harder level. I believe when this game first came out it was probably harder, and the normal mode now is probably an easier version. You can build 5 unique decks, and change those decks between each battle. And you can observe what the enemy will bring to the board as well. Meaning you can change between decks to attempt to exploit a weakspot in your enemies lineup. You have different equipment you can equip your character that will boost your decks, and there is some equipment sets... but honestly majority of the time when you could have really used the new equipment to help you out you've already grind for 2 hours to get better cards. Speaking of Grinding before your get to the very last stage and face the 3 final bosses... you have to grind out 60 keys.... this is going to take you Hours. The game overstays it's welcome, and honestly it isn't terrible. It's just lacking on every front. If you are looking for something unique to play this isn't it. If you are looking for a deckbuilder that is a bit simplistic than this is for you. PROS: Enemy Preview Able to change your decks between each battle Difficulty NEUTRAL: Art Mechanics – card play CONS: Levels are too long the Pub is terrible Tries to be something more than what it is.
