This is a delightful game that uses a traditional point and click interface. It has all the elements of a successful adventure... witty dialog, funny cut-scenes, well acted voice-overs, a silly story, quests with obscure solutions, and a hero you can't help but like. In a word, it is just plain fun to play! You control Captain Disaster as he navigates the cosmos, picking up and delivering a package. What should be a simple errand sets off a chain events that will keep you smiling through the entire game. Cultural references are constant and puzzles range from easy (if you are paying attention to the clues) to obtuse. In the end, I never minded 'try this, try that' problem solving because the accompanying narrative kept me entertained. The pixel art is noteworthy. Despite the low resolution, the amount of detail provided in the environment and on the character's face is pretty amazing. I recommend this to any gamer who appreciates a good story and who has a sense of humor. My hope is that we will see Captain Disaster again in the future...

Death Has a Million Stomping Boots is a point-and-click comedy adventure in which you are a hapless space captain who is off to pick up and deliver a package. This plan quickly goes off the rails! If you would like to get a sense of the style of humor in this game, feel free to check out the free prequel, The Dark Side of the Moon, also available on Steam. Death Has a Million Stomping Boots is quite jokey, with lots of colorful characters, situation humor, and nods and references to other games, as well as films and television series. The humor is light and upbeat without ever feeling too forced. There is a scene with a talking pizza that is especially funny. The title character is a likable sort of dude as well; as is the supporting cast. Overall, the game is a joy to play. The puzzles tend to punch above their weight class, as well. The second act has three really satisfying puzzle chains back-to-back-to-back, very well designed. The developer of this game is also really active in supporting indie game development and really just seems like a stand-up sort of dude. There’s really no reason not to grab this game up right this minute.

Completed this game when it came out on itch.io a couple of years back. A delightfully funny old school point and click romp through space. Made with love, and it shows. Recommended!!

I found the game to be a big improvement compared to its free prequel "The Dark side of the moon". It has better graphics, much less pixel hunting and offers a longer playtime. The devs must also have had a lot of fun imagining all the peculiar aspects of the game. Progress in the game is done through trials and errors and a thorough exploration of the environment: - Click on everything you see (left-click to interact with/pick up an object, right-click on a object to get some funny comment or hint) - Talk to everyone and explore all dialogues choices - Try to combine any items in your inventory with any other inventory items or objects in your environment. - Try different solutions of a puzzle to see how it affects it until you get things right. In all, that was a really fun game to play and I am curious to see what the devs have planned for the next opus.

Captain Disaster is a very intriguing and charming sci-fi comedy title, that's definitely recommended if you like point and clicks, especially of retro aesthetics and absurd humour variety! I mean, what other game features great writing, intuitive interface, talking space pizza, nose people, bumbling captains, literal million stomping boots and sarcastic navigational computers? This game has it all, I tell you!

A cracker send-up of just about every sci fi tv show, film, and game out there, all neatly wrapped in a Sierra/LucasArts-style point-and-click adventure. Genuinely laughed out loud multiple times. I already finished this game not on Steam but decided to buy it on Steam as well. This is a real proper adventure game with real puzzles as well as the humor, much like Space Quest or any of the old classics. I do highly recommend this game. It's fun and interesting. The only negative points really is the voice acting is a bit slow, but you can click through it, a few of the puzzle solutions are a little bit nonsense because they are based more on humor than logic, and the sense of humor is sometimes slightly too silly for my tastes, but if you like particularly silly humor, you won't have an issue with that. All in all, a very solid game that is well worth the price. Don't hesitate to buy it.

A humorous Space Quest like escapade through space for all ye retro geeks (hey, that's me!) who can't get enough of this stuff. Employs a traditional point and click interface. The dialogues can be rather clever and the puzzles overall aren't very hard but sometimes the solution may be obscure. The game is rife with nostalgia for an era that is long gone and references to other sci-fi games, movies, and series. Two thumbs up! I've just finished the first act and may update this review as I play more.

It's a point and click adventure game, with a classic gameplay hidden in it. Interaction with the world is done by left and right mouse button (which correspond to use/look). The puzzles are at alright difficulty and shouldn't be a problem to anyone to solve them, especially if you like talking to people around you, or exploring the locations (just don't forget about using both mouse buttons for interactions!). I'd love to see more ZB in this, as this was my favourite character, and with the most personality (think: KITT & Michel Knight duo). It's a short one, but made with passion. PS. I finished CD: DHAMSB outside Steam first. My playtime is relatively low because I knew what to do at this point.

TLDR: Captain Disaster is Superb! This is a game that really meant a lot to me! I think at times, it's easy for me to want to sob over my collection of never growing LucasArts titles and remember the glory days... Then a game like this comes along and says "Hey, Monkey Island ain't the only game in town!" Yes, it pays homage to the greats, but it is just chocked full or zane, fun, and silliness itself. Truly a worthy addition to the annals of #pointandclick glory based on it's clever humor alone! So, the writing is great, the puzzles are challenging but fun, the graphics are charming and add a little nostalgia from the glory days of point and click, and I thoroughly enjoyed the music and voice acting. Great pacing on the story and locations as well! This game gives me hope that point and click games can still be wild, funny, and well made all at the same time!
